This slim collection of early short stories by Virginia Woolf has a little bit of all her strengths crammed into one tiny volume. I have, admittedly, still a little bit of an undeniable adoration of Woolf's stream of consciousness which was gained in an Upper Grad course focused solely on her and her major works. I loved the Virginia Woolf was born in London, the daughter of the prominent literary critic Leslie Stephen. She never received a Monday or Tuesday: Eight Stories university education; her early education was obtained at home through her parents and governesses. After death of her father inher family moved to Bloomsbury, where they formed the nucleus of the Bloomsbury Group, a circle of philosophers, writers and artists. As a writer, Woolf was a great experimenter. She scorned the traditional narrative form and turned to expressionism as a means of telling her story. Dalloway and To The Lighthouseher two generally acknowledged masterpieces, Monday or Tuesday: Eight Stories stream-of-consciousness novels in which most of the action and conflict occur beneath a surface of social decorum.
