This year’s offi cial Christmas Card is a photograph of the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey in York. The Abbot’s lodging is now the King’s Manor, where a number of University departments and centres are based. The photograph was taken by University staff member Paul Kelly. Each pack contains 10 cards and envelopes. The card dimensions are approximately 12.5cm by 17.5cm and the message inside reads ‘Season’s greetings’.

Commercial operators across Britain queued up to get their hands on new local broadcasting licences as the BBC’s monopoly, York established by Royal Charter in the 1920s, was finally dismantled. We’re both long standing members of York University Basket- ball Club, and are proud to have joined the team in holy matrimony!
