190 page book with very good basic instruction on fishing for smallmouth bass. Written by a fly shop owner from back east, but book is very applicable to western fly fishing. Read this then read his newer book on "Fly Fishing Techniques for Smallmouth Bass" Second in a series of Neme's books on soft-hackled flies. Most of the book focuses on the origins of soft hackles and includes old photographs of flies. The last fourth of the book provides more up to date information on tying and fishing soft hackles.
