" This true friend and teacher we have had throughout our high school years in the person of MRS. BONNIE PARKER, who was our beloved English teacher during our first three years of high school.

She is never too busy to lend a helping hand to any of us in trouble, regardless of how trivial the problem may seem. For her genuine interest in all of us, for her faith in the ultimate good of us, and for her love and loyalty to our school, we dedicate the 1959 NUSHKA to MRS. BONNIE PARKER, master teacher, true friend.

75 Willard Roberts came to Glenwood from Etowah High School in Henderson County. His problem was "to whip into shape" two prac- tically green basketball teams. Evidently he did just that, since both teams chalked up 17 wins and only 5 losses during the season. The promotion of good sports- man has been his first objective. Repeatedly he has urged die Glen- wood students to be good sports. Coach Roberts is looking for- ward to coaching championship teams next year — champion sports- men as well as champion ball players. GOOD LUCK COACH!

iii liii'Miiiii i vm mw i Miiiium i mm in n iiii iiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiij n iiiiiinmimiumi The Student Council of Glenwood was composed of seventeen members this year, elected from their respec- tive classes in the eighth through the twelfth grades. Its purpose was to bring about a better understanding between the faculty and student body. Membership in the Student Council can be attained only by a student's being elected by his respective home room. Although membership is attained only by election, a good scholastic record, high character, and recom- mendation of the teachers and the principal are usually considered indispensable assets. This year the Student Council assisted the teachers whenever it could by using monitors, and by encouraging cooperation on the part of the students. As their fund- raising projects, they sold basketball souvenir: and Glenwood High School banners. STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS MR. 79 The Glen wood Key Club is an active organization composed of boys interested in serving their school and community. The members were selected on the basis of leadership, ability, and scholastic achievement. On Wednesday of each week the club attended luncheon meetings, held in the school cafeteria with members of the Marion Kiwanis Club. Harold Dean Suttles, president of the Key Club, spoke to the Marion Kiwanis Club on several occasions. The club's activities and projects included sponsoring three divisions in the Kiwanis Club Fifth Annual Talent Show (all placing top honors), supporting the basketball team in actual game participation, and taking charge of the concession stand. They also attended conventions and compiled a Key Club scrapbook. The Key Club par- ticipated in the annual Christmas Parade of Marion with attractive Susie Buchanan as "Key Club Sweetheart.
