Cliff Pennington’s walk-off home April 19 @ Buffalo PPD (Rain) run in game one capped a RailRiders rally over the Mets, while a late comeback fell short in Saturday’s regularly scheduled game. April 20 @ Buffalo - Game 1 PPD (Rain) @ Buffalo - Game 2 PPD (Rain) The RailRiders continued Friday evening’s suspended game against the Mets Saturday after 3:05 worth of delays Friday night April 22 @ Rochester L 8-6 in which the two teams played one half inning. Friday, Danny Espinosa homered early in the first for the Mets on a line drive to April 23 @ Rochester L 8-1 left field during the first inning Friday night. April 27 vs. Syracuse W 7-6 (10) vs. Syracuse L 3-2 (7) The tally remained the same until the top of the seventh when Espinosa doubled on a fly ball to center fielder Matt Lipka. Lipka singled on a line drive to left fielder Tim Tebow and Gosuke Katoh scored to cut into the lead and make it 5-3 Syracuse. PARK Updated April 23, 2021 COVID-19 REAUDINESS PLAN 1 GENERAL STATEMENT The Charleston RiverDogs have prepared this document to assist with navigating the new policies and best practices for operating at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park within the environment of the COVID-19 epidemic for ticketed events. The contents herein are intended to preserve the safety of staff, players, fans and other patrons as the case may be, and they supersede any prior instruction by the Team. The RiverDogs will continue to follow the guidance of national, state and local governments and agencies, as well as the directives of Major League Baseball and the Tampa Bay Rays, to develop and update these policies. The input of local, regional medical and health partners will also play a significant role in the continued development of the below policies and best practices. As necessary and appropriate, these guidelines, policies and best practices may be changed and/or modified. BALLPARK OPERATIONS A. Staff/Guest Sanitation Amenities: The RiverDogs have added hand-sanitizing stations throughout Riley Park, including at gates, concession stands, and restroom entrances. B. Face Coverings: All patrons older than 2 years old will be required to wear a mask covering both mouth and nose at all times, except when actively eating or drinking in the patron’s seat. C. Cashless Purchasing: The RiverDogs will install cashless options at all major points of sale in or about the Ballpark. This will be achieved through the investment in touchless units that will connect to and will provide fans the ability to tap or insert their credit card without interpersonal bodily interaction.

Bad Behavior George Herman "Babe Ruth" was born February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland. His parents owned a saloon near the current site of Camden Yards in Baltimore. They were of German descent and taught him to speak German fluently. George was actually somewhat of a petty criminal as a young boy. By age seven he was already involved in drinking alcohol and chewing tobacco. Because he was too difficult for his parents to control, George was sent away to a catholic school. It was here, where Brother Matthias taught him baseball. As a teenager, George became the team's catcher and then pitcher. Unusual Talent At the age of 19 Jack Dunn, a scout for the Orioles discovered George's baseball talents. He was promptly signed to pitch for the Orioles. After performing well as a pitcher and a batter for the Orioles during spring training, George made the team. Because he was such a young talent, he earned the nickname "Babe". On April 22, 1914, Babe pitched a shutout against the Buffalo Bisons in his Major-League debut. Because the Orioles were in poor financial shape, Jack Dunn was forced to sell off his best players. Babe was sold to the Boston Red Sox in 1914 for an amount between $20,000 and $35,000. Called up to the Majors After pitching for the Red Sox minor league club in Providence, Rhode Island, Babe was called up to the majors permanently toward the end of the 1914 baseball season.
