Sub: Enhance rainfall and Thunderstorm activity over West Bengal during 10th to 14th June,2021. A cyclonic circulation lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal and extends up to mid tropospheric level. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighborhood during next 24 hours. It is likely to become more marked during subsequent 24 hours and move west northwestwards across Odisha. Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance into entire West Bengal during next 48 hours. Under its influence, Light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall and lightning is likely to occur at most places over the districts of West Bengal during 10th to 14th June,2021.

Warnings: (i) Rainfall (Yellow color): Gangetic West Bengal: Day 1(10.06.2021) : Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Howrah districts. Day 2(11.06.2021) : Heavy rain(07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Kolkata, Howrah districts. Day 3(12.06.2021) : Heavy rain(07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Purulia, Jhargram, Bankura, West Bardhaman, Birbhum districts. Day 4(13.06.2021) : Heavy rain(07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Purulia, Jhargram, Bankura, West Bardhaman districts. Day 5(14.06.2021) : Heavy rain(07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Aliporeduar, Coochbehar districts. Sub- Himalayan west Bengal & Sikkim- Day 3(12.06.2021) : Heavy rain(07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Aliporeduar districts and Sikkim. Day 4(13.06.2021) : Heavy rain(07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Aliporeduar, Coochbehar districts. Day 5(14.06.2021) : Heavy rain(07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Kalimopong, Alipurduar, North and South Dinajpur and Malda districts.

(ii) (ii Thunderstorm (Orange color) Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) likely over the districts of Gangetic West Bengal during 10th to 12th June,2021. (iii) Fishermen Warning (Red color) : In anticipation of formation of Low Pressure Area over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood from 11th to 14th June, 2021, Fishermen of West Bengal are advised not to venture into the sea from 11th Morning. Those who are in deep sea are advised to return to the coast by 10th Evening. (iv) Wind Warning (Yellow Color): Wind speed (30 – 40 kmph) likely to prevail over East Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas during 11th to 13th June 2021

Action Suggested : 1. Peoples are advised to take shelter in concrete house and not to move outside during thunderstorm/lightning activity. 2. DO NOT take shelter under trees and particularly under isolated tree. 3. Farmers are advised not to work in open field during lightning and thunderstorm activity. 4. Due to heavy rainfall water logging in low lying areas and traffic congestion in city/town.
