GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF EARTH SCIENCES INDIA METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT REGIONAL METEOROLOGICAL CENTRE, ALIPORE, KOLKATA•27 DATE: Sunday, 26th September 2021 Major Weather System over the Region Southwest monsoon been subdued over Bihar, Sikkim & West Bengal . A squall passed over Port Blair on 25.09.2021 at 2028 Hrs IST from westerly direction with highest gust speed of 68 Kmph & lasted for 01 minute. Heavy Rainfall occurred at one or two places over Odisha . Rainfall occurred at most places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at a few places over Sikkim , Odisha and at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand & West Bengal. The Cyclonic Storm "Gulab" (pronounced as Gul Aab) over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal moved nearly westwards with a speed of 17 kmph in last 06 hours and lay centered at 0830 hrs IST of 26th September 2021, over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal near Lat. 18.4°N and Long. 86.4°E, about 180 km eastsoutheast of Gopalpur (Odisha) & 240 km east northeast of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh). It is likely to move nearly westwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh south Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam & Gopalpur as a Cyclonic Storm with maximum sustained wind 75 -85 kmph gusting to 95 kmph, around midnight of 26th September, 2021. The landfall process will commence from late evening of today. The Monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through the centre of Cyclonic Storm "Gulab" (pronounced as Gul Aab) over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal. Weather Warning for the Region During Next Five Days :• Sunday 26 Sep(Day-1) 1) Heavy to very heavy rain(7-20 cm) likely to occur at a few places over Odisha with extremely heavy rain (>20 cm) likely at one or two places over Odisha. 2) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 3) Gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over East Midnapore district of Gangetic West Bengal. 4) Thunderstorms with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand and the districts of Gangetic West Bengal. Monday 27 Sep(Day-2) 1) Heavy to Very heavy rain (7-20cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha. 2) Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 3)Thunderstorms with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Jharkhand and all the districts of Gangetic West Bengal. Tuesday 28 Sep(Day-3) 1) Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Odisha and Kolkata, North & South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, East & West Burdwan, East & West Midnapore districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 2) Gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over North & South 24 Parganas, Jhargram , Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, East & West Midnapore district of Gangetic West Bengal. 3)Thunderstorms with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Jharkhand and all the districts of Gangetic West Bengal. Wednesday 29 Sep(Day-4) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Jharkhand, Odisha and West Burdwan, Bankura, Purulia and Jhargram districts of Gangetic West Bengal. Thursday 30 Sep(Day-5) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha and Jharkhand. Fisherman Warning for West Bengal Coast: Due to Cyclonic storm over Northwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal, wind speed is very likely to exceed 45 kmph.
