GM GAWAIN JONES IS THE NEW BRITISH CHESS CHAMPION
GM Gawain Jones won the 99th edition of the British Chess Championship. Gawain Jones and GM Stephen Gordon finished with 9 points and the winner was determined after two playoff games of rapid chess. Third finished GM David Howell with final score of 8.5 points.

GM ANTON KOROBOV WON THE FINAL OF THE 81ST UKRAINIAN MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
GM Anton Korobov won the final of the 81st Ukrainian Men’s Championship with final result of 8 points. The silver medal is for GM Alexander Areshchenko, who finished with 7 points. Third with the same score is GM Andrei Volokitin.
The Championship was held from 27th of July to 7th of August, 2012 in Kiev.
Chief-Arbiter of the tournament, organized by the Ukrainian Chess Federation, was IA Oleg Tovchyga. The final was played in 11 rounds with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment per move starting from move one.

GM WANG HAO WON THE 45TH INTERNATIONAL CHESS FESTIVAL OF BIEL
GM Wang Hao (CHN) won the 45th International Chess Festival of Biel with final result of 19 points. Second, on a point distance from the winner, finished GM Magnus Carlsen (NOR), on the shared third place are GM Anish Giri (NED) and GM Hikaru Nakamura (USA) – both with 16 points.
Biel Chess Festival was held from 23rd of July to 2nd of August, 2012 in Biel, Switzerland. Victor Bologan started the tournament from Round 3, after Morozevich retired from the tournament due to health reasons.
The tournament was 6-player round robin with time control 100 minutes for 40 moves+50 minutes for 20 moves+15 minutes for the rest of the game+30 seconds increment per move, starting from mover one.
