The convocation then moves next door to the Ball Honors House backyard for a social mixer, where freshmen will meet their peer mentors, leaders of honors College student organizations, and Honors College faculty and staff. We’ll take our annual class photo at the convocation, and each new honors freshman will receive a welcome gift from the Honors College. 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. Where do I find Course Material/Information? Canvas Learning Session Location: Burkhart Building 109 Canvas is a web-based course-management systems by which faculty deliver course content to students. Your instructors may use Canvas to post syllabi, create exams, host online class discussions, and make important files available to you. Stop by BB109 to learn how to navigate Canvas so you can find course materials and information to maximize your academic success for all incoming students. 6:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m. 21st Century Scholars Symposium (Mandatory for 21st Century Scholars) Location: Pruis Hall The 21st Century Scholars Symposium is a mandatory event for all incoming freshmen with a 21st Century Scholar award. During this event we will review scholar requirements, program expectations, and introduce you to campus staff and resources dedicated to your success. 7:45 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Residence Hall Floor Meetings Hosted by your friendly resident assistant (RA), this is a great time to learn important information about your new home, meet your neighbors, and begin your year in the residence halls. Get your 2019–20 spirit shirt, among other prizes, and one lucky freshman will earn the opportunity to shoot a half-court shot to win free tuition for the 2020 spring semester. You will be able to meet leaders of these groups and collect information on their activities and events. 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Mock Class Lecture Location: Arts and Communications Building, Room 114 Hosted by professors across campus, this interactive lecture will show you what to expect on your first day of classes. You will have the opportunity to learn about the classroom setting, expectations, and receive a few tips about how to be successful in the classroom.     FIRST SUPPLEMENT DATED JANUARY 3, 2017 TO PRELIMINARY OFFICIAL STATEMENT DATED DECEMBER 16, 2016 Regarding: $127,650,000* Ball State University Board of Trustees Ball State University Student Fee Bonds, Series R This First Supplement dated January 3, 2017 (the “First Supplement”) supplements the Preliminary Official Statement dated December 16, 2016 (the “Original POS”) with respect to the Ball State University Board of Trustees Ball State University Student Fee Bonds, Series R (the “Series R Bonds”). The purpose of this First Supplement is to advise regarding a change with respect to one of the underwriters of the Series R Bonds. Specifically, effective January 3, 2017, the transaction described at page 34 of the Original POS, under “Underwriting,” paragraph four thereof, has been consummated. City Financial Corporation (“CFC”) has effectuated a Merger Agreement with Stifel Financial Corporation (“SFC”), a publicly traded financial services company, pursuant to which City Securities Corporation (“City Securities Corporation”), a wholly owned subsidiary of CFC, has been merged into SFC.
