Entrepreneurial learning is Ball State’s unique approach to education. Students and their faculty mentors collaborate on high-impact experiences that embody exploration, problem solving, creativity, and risk-taking.

Entrepreneurial learning occurs both inside and outside of the classroom, within dynamic environments where knowing intersects with making and creative experimentation, and where students and faculty learn together through productive application of knowledge.

Many activities fall under the umbrella of entrepreneurial learning, including: • immersive learning projects—where interdisciplinary, student- driven teams are guided by faculty mentors to create high-impact learning experiences in collaboration with community partners • undergraduate research—where students, including freshmen, gain understanding of published works, apply new knowledge to world challenges, and learn collaboration skills that jump-start their professional careers • many other enriching real-world experiences, such as volunteer work, study abroad, internships, clinicals, practicums, and capstone classes

The moment I arrived on campus, I connected with the swimming and diving team, and Ball State became my home away from home. As a new college student, expect to hear this question a lot. When you come to Ball State, you’ll be able to say it is among the best in the country. So does The Daily Meal, which included Ball State in the “75 Best Colleges for Food in America for 2015.”

Our team of six culinary-trained chefs works year-round to elevate the college dining experience so that you don’t have to get fancy to enjoy a professionally prepared, nutritious breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack.

Open from 6:45 a.m. to midnight, our 11 dining sites are conveniently located around campus and offer a variety of choices and serving styles, from buffets and cafés to food courts and small groceries. We even have a nutritionist who can meet with students who require a special diet. Here are just a handful of examples: • Ball State professors in the College of Architecture and Planning routinely lead field studies in Asia, Italy, and the 15-week Polyark/WorldTour to 60 cities in 25 countries. • Honors College students enhance their humanities course work with a trip to Rome and Florence, Italy, where they explore the juxtaposition of the ancient and the modern. • In 2015, Ball State students were one of the first college classes in more than 50 years to visit Cuba. They spent their spring break documenting everyday lives on the island, learning about travel journalism, and producing a gallery exhibit upon their return. • In recent years, students in Ball State’s Global Brigades have worked with in-country partners to build schools, improve sustainability, and provide clean water and medical services to communities in Panama, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
