You may have noticed some new developments recently and we have more planned for the year ahead, with a dynamic programme of exhibitions, events, workshops and activities within the gallery and out in the community.

The gallery will be exhibiting a vibrant mix of established and ‘emerging’ artists, with supporting exhibitions to showcase the brightest talent from the local area. I hope the new programme will primarily serve the interests of Letchworth residents but also strive to establish a reputation as an important arts centre nationally.

As part of the planned changes, we will be increasing the number of exhibitions in the GALLERY main gallery from four per year to six to broaden the range of art that we can show. We’ve extended the Foyer Gallery into the café to maximise space for our local artists. The ‘Studio’ has now become an additional exhibition space dedicated to film, new media, installation and performance. The Studio programme is intended to be more experimental and progressive and will focus on younger, early-career artists. Finally, we recently launched the Broadway Plinth, a permanent fixture in the cafe area exhibiting single works by renowned sculptors.

Over the coming year we will be maintaining our Family Arts events as well as introducing lots of new activities from life drawing classes to live music events. We will also be developing a residency programme inviting internationally known artists to work in and respond to Letchworth and its unique history.

We hope to welcome you to the gallery soon.
