Why is high grade floss reserved High quality floss for direct moxibustion? • High quality floss holds together as grain-of-rice size cones or smaller. It makes much less smoke and smells pleasant. Its heat is less ‘fierce’ so it will not damage the flesh. • High grade floss is pure fiber without any leaf matter, twigs, or excessive amounts of volatile oils. This makes its fire more mellow.
