The touristic impact of the Haferland Week

Every year, the number of visitors who come to the Transylvania areas for the Haferland week increases. The traditional houses in the area, transformed into touristic accom- modation units, may ensure the accommodation for up to 150-200 tourists. The impact of the tourist flow into the Saxon community is a positive one, contributing to promot- ing the entire area as a highly tempt- ing touristic destination.

Leisure services provided The Danube Gorge – nature, leisure and by the guesthouses The vast majority of guesthouses in hospitality in the Canyon area the area of the Danube Canyon offer boat rides and cruises with their own ships. The length of these routes is of approximately 9km, taking around 2 hours. The ships have a capacity of 10 – 14 people. The offers also contain guided tours, cyclotourism, moun- tain routes and water sports.

For the active tourists, there are marked circuits for cyclotourism and mountain biking within the pe- rimeter of the National Park the Iron Gates. Also, the parks administra- tion has created paths for hiking, the main attraction in the area being the Ciucaru Mare Peak (318 m), where the tourists can enjoy a lovely view over the Canyon area of the Danube.
