West Liberty’s Cedric Harris Headlines Daktronics NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Men’s Basketball All-Region Team

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty senior guard Cedric Harris, the Atlantic Region’s Player of the Year, headlines the 2013-14 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball All-Atlantic Region team.

The NCAA Division II Atlantic Region team is comprised of players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mountain East Conference (MEC) and the State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) in the Atlantic Region. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later in the month.

Harris, the 2014 Mountain East Conference Player of the Year, directed the nation’s highest scoring offense to the MEC regular season championship and a fifth-straight berth in the NCAA Tournament. Harris leads the ‘Toppers in scoring with 17.6 points per game while dishing out a league-best 5.2 assists per game. He led all players in the Atlantic Region in assist/turnover ratio (2.96) and steals (2.31).

Joining Harris on the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region First Team is Gannon’s Adam Blazek, East Stroudsburg’s Whis Grant, Lock Haven’s Wali Hepburn and Livingstone’s Mark Thomas. Blazek, a junior guard, was the PSAC West Player of the Year after leading the Golden Knights with 16.4 points per game. Grant, a two-time first team All-Atlantic Region and selection, averaged 16.9 points while helping the Warriors to the top seed in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament. Hepburn was the top scorer in the Atlantic Region at 21.9 points per game and was the PSAC East Player of the Year. Thomas, the CIAA Player of the Year, scored 21.3 points per game and led the Blue Bears to their first-ever CIAA Tournament championship and was named the tournament’s MVP.

The five players advance to be considered for Daktronics All-America honors.

The All-Atlantic Region second team consists of: Joe Bell (Mansfield), Lawrence DeArmond (), C.J. Hester (West Liberty), Lamar Mallory (Glenville State) and Brantley Osborne (Shepherd).
