SM East Senior Lancer Dancers 2020-2021 SMSM EastEast SeniorSenior LancerLancer DancersDancers 2020-20212020-2021 Claire BAKER This is Claire’s fourth year on drill team and her third year on Varsity, in which she serves as a Varsity Captain. Claire is a member of National Honor Society, SHARE, DECA, and is Assistant Editor for the Yearbook. Claire also dances competitively for Jody Phillips Dance Company. Her favorite drill team memory is going to Nationals for the first time. Future plans are to attend a four-year university, yet to be determined. Claire would like to thank her family for supporting her love of dance, all the teachers at Jody Phillips, and Coach Bubba for always encouraging her to do her best. Camryn COHEN This is Camryn’s fourth year as a Lancer Dancer and her second year on Varsity, serving as the team’s Spirit Officer. Camryn is also a SHARE committee chair, Link Leader, DECA member and Varsity member of the Track Team since her freshman year. She has danced competitively with Starstruck Performing Arts Center and Perception Studios. Camryn’s favorite drill team memory is the halftime performance at the 2020 basketball game against Rockhurst. After graduation she plans to pursue a degree in Kinesiology and Physical Therapy, however, she is undecided on a college choice. In Camryn’s words: “I would like to give special thanks to my mom and dad for supporting me throughout my years of performing and competing in dance and gymnastics. Thank you so much for all the driving, waiting, picture taking and cheering you did at classes, camps and competitions. I love you guys and Haleigh so much. And thank you to Coach Bubba for encouraging me to work hard and never give up on trying to do my best.” Jess PINDELL This is Jess’s fourth year on drill team and her second year on Varsity. Jess is also a member of the National Honor Society, a DECA member, a Link Leader, and a Varsity member of the Shawnee Mission Girls Lacrosse. Her favorite dance team memory is performing halftime at the 2020 Rockhurst basketball game and being a part of the opening lift. Jess’s future plans include majoring in digital design and studying marketing and business, yet she is undecided on her college choice. Jess would like to thank her parents, in her own words, “Thank you Mom and Dad for always supporting my interests. Thank you for driving me countless hours to get to studio rehearsals, practices, and performances on time (and most of the time, early). Thank you, Jensen and Jordan, for sacrificing your time to come support me and for always being my number one fans. I love you all so much and thank you for making me the person I am today. And thank you to Coach Bubba for always supporting me and my team members to keep working hard.” Katie REDA This is Katie’s fourth year on drill team and her second year on Varsity, in which she serves as a Varsity Captain. Katie is a member of SHARE and DECA. Her favorite drill team memory is going to Nationals last year. Future plans include going to a four-year university, to be determined. Katie would like to thank her family for all their love and support, and Coach Bubba for everything she has done for her, not only making her the best dancer she can be but also a better person as well. Lydia SEYMOUR This is Lydia’s fourth year on drill team. Outside of drill team, Lydia is a member of National Honor Society and East Ambassadors. Lydia also dances competitively for Entertainment Dance Company. Her favorite drill team memory is performing at the Rockhurst game her junior year. Her future plans are to attend a four-year university to study Accounting, where is undecided. Lydia would like to thank her parents, sister, teammates and all of her dance coaches for always pushing her to be the best dancer she can be. Lucille WINTER This is Lucille’s fourth year on drill team and second year on Varsity. Lucille is a member of the Track and Field team, National Honor Society, SHARE, DECA, and Choir. She has danced competitively at Starstruck Performing Arts Center. Her favorite drill team memory is debuting their hip hop dance at the Rockhurst basketball game last year. Future plans are to attend a four-year university, to be determined. Lucille would like to thank her friends and family for always supporting her, and coach Bubba for making the past 4 years amazing. Winnie WOLF This is Winnie’s fourth year on drill team and her second on Varsity, in which she serves as a Varsity Captain. At East, Winnie is a member of Student Store, the Harbinger, DECA, SHARE, a Link Leader and a member of National Honor Society. Winnie also dances competitively for Starstruck Performing Arts Center. Winnie’s favorite drill team memory is dancing on the Nationals stage last year and all the fun she got to have with her roommates in their downtime. Future plans for Winnie are to attend an undecided four-year university. Winnie would like to thank her mom for pushing her to be her best, her family for coming to each performance, all of her Starstruck teachers and Bubba - for giving her the opportunity to be a Lancer Dancer four years ago. Coach “BUBBA” This is Coach Close’s 10th year as head coach of the JV and Varsity Lancer Dancers. Alexis grew up in Prairie Village, where she did competitive dance and gym- nastics for many years. She has loved watching these seniors grow into the incredible teammates and leaders they are today, and she is honored to be taking on the challenges of this year with them. Alexis would like to thank all of the Lancer Dancer parents for their support of the team, and she would like to thank her own family for all of their encouragement and love. He has worked exclusively with Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Kylie Minogue, Jane Lynch, Emma Stone, Betty White, Boyz II Men, Julianne Hough, Vanessa Hudgens, and Iggy Azalea. He has been in numerous performances on Dancing With The Stars over the past nine seasons choreographed by Mandy Moore, Chris Scott, Dee Caspary, Marty Kedelka, Marguerite Derricks, and Kenny Ortega. KC can be seen in the box office hit “No Strings Attached” and the remake of the movie "FAME," choreographed by Marguerite Derricks.
