The Formation of Interpersonal Attraction and Intimate Relationships on Internet Relay Chat
The Formation of Interpersonal Attraction and Intimate Relationships on Internet Relay Chat An Exploratory Study CHERRIE JOY F. BILLEDO This research investigated the formation of interpersonal attraction and intimate relationships on Internet Relay Chat (IRC). Two methods were employed: survey and in-depth interview. Purposive and convenience sampling were used for both methods. Results revealed that the formation of in-person and online interpersonal attraction and intimate relationships have similar initial stages of development. For online relationships however, partners have to undergo processes to shift from online to in-person. It was also shown that similar attraction cues were important online and in-person. A closer examination, however, showed that these attraction cues differ in salience and quality. This study contributes to the understanding of the impact of computer-mediated communication, particularly IRC, on the development of intimate relationships. The advent of computer-mediated communication (CMC) via the Internet, is believed to have significant implications on various aspects of human endeavor. People are not only meeting and interacting through the Internet; they are forming meaningful relationships as well. According to an article in Newsweek magazine, the phenomenon of online relationships is growing at a fast rate that it now warrants serious attention (Stone 2001). In the Philippines, online romantic relationships are already slowly entering the cultural mainstream through Internet Cherrie Joy F. Billedo is an assistant professor at the Department of Psychology, University of the Philippines Diliman. Referred to collectively in this study as ‘ashes creations’, the practices explored in this research include human cremation ashes irreversibly incorporated or transformed into: jewellery, glassware, diamonds, paintings, tattoos, vinyl records, photograph frames, pottery, and mosaics. This research critically analyses the commissioning, production, and the lived experience of the incorporation of human cremation ashes into objects and tattoos from the perspective of two groups of people who participate in these practices: people who have commissioned an ashes creations incorporating the cremation ashes of a loved one and people who make or sell ashes creations. -
The Comparative Politics of E-Cigarette Regulation in Australia, Canada and New Zealand by Alex C
Formulating a Regulatory Stance: The Comparative Politics of E-Cigarette Regulation in Australia, Canada and New Zealand by Alex C. Liber A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Health Services Organizations and Policy) in The University of Michigan 2020 Doctoral Committee: Professor Scott Greer, Co-Chair Assistant Professor Holly Jarman, Co-Chair Professor Daniel Béland, McGill University Professor Paula Lantz Alex C. Liber [email protected] ORCID iD: 0000-0001-7863-3906 © Alex C. Liber 2020 Dedication For Lindsey and Sophia. I love you both to the ends of the earth and am eternally grateful for your tolerance of this project. ii Acknowledgments To my family – Lindsey, you made the greatest sacrifices that allowed this project to come to fruition. You moved away from your family to Michigan. You allowed me to conduct two months of fieldwork when you were pregnant with our daughter. You helped drafts come together and were a constant sounding board and confidant throughout the long process of writing. This would not have been possible without you. Sophia, Poe, and Jo served as motivation for this project and a distraction from it when each was necessary. Mom, Dad, Chad, Max, Julian, and Olivia, as well as Papa Ernie and Grandma Audrey all, helped build the road that I was able to safely walk down in the pursuit of this doctorate. You served as role models, supports, and friends that I could lean on as I grew into my career and adulthood. Lisa, Tony, and Jessica Suarez stepped up to aid Lindsey and me with childcare amid a move, a career transition, and a pandemic. -
Elvis Presley Once Sang, "Wise Men Say Only Fools Rush In, but I Can't
Laws of Attraction - Ruth 2:5-22 Dr. Kevin D. Glenn – Lead Pastor Elvis Presley once sang, "Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you." Have you ever noticed the language we use when we describe the beginning of romantic relationships? We use so many phrases about relationships that imply a loss of control: "Swept off my feet," "intoxicated," "falling in love," "fell for you.", etc. With all this stumbling and falling, no wonder relationships can hurt so much! This morning we’ll witness the beginning moments in the relationship between Ruth and Boaz. How do their first encounters help us re-examine the ways we relate when we’re interested in someone? What principles can we take from their interaction to help us, whether we’re married, divorced, or single? What are some laws of attraction seen in this part of the story? 1. Use your head to guide your heart. There is nothing wrong with being aware of your initial chemistry with someone. However, looks can fade, change, or be surgically altered…We must look below the skin for admirable qualities, qualities that will either confirm or betray outward appearances. • Many of today’s dating practices actually hinder our ability to really know a person. • Ignoring your head to follow your feelings can lead to a broken heart. • Ask questions, get history, look for patterns. Be smart, not just smitten. Boaz asked the foreman of his harvesters, "Whose young woman is that?" 6 The foreman replied, "She is the Moabitess who came back from Moab with Naomi. -
Feeding Your Baby 6 Months to 1 Year
Feeding Your Baby 6 months to 1 year 1 Feeding your baby is about many things: • It’s about nutrition. • It’s about forming a close bond with your baby. • It’s about helping your baby feel secure and loved. • It’s about your baby’s growth and development. • It’s about developing life-long healthy eating habits. Health Canada recommends that breastmilk is the only food your baby needs until your baby is 6 months old. Infants should start iron-rich foods at 6 months with continued breastfeeding for 2 years or longer. • Breastfeeding is healthy, natural, convenient, and free. • Breastmilk contains antibodies that lower the chance of your baby getting sick. 2 Vitamin and Mineral Supplements Fluoride Fluoride helps children develop strong teeth. Do not give fluoride supplements to your baby before 6 months of age. It can harm your baby’s developing teeth. At 6 months of age, your baby may need fluoride drops if your water supply does not contain fluoride. Some communities do not put fluoride in the water. Check with your local public health office or dentist to see if the water in your community is fluoridated. Talk to your health care provider for more information. Vitamin D Vitamin D is needed for bone growth. Most babies, no matter the season or where they live, need a supplement of vitamin D starting at birth. Currently, Health Canada recommends that all breastfed, healthy term babies receive 400 IU (International Units) of liquid vitamin D supplement each day. Infant formula contains added vitamin D. Babies who are formula fed but are drinking less than 1000 ml or 32 ounces a day, would benefit from 400 IU vitamin D supplement each day. -

Blues Rock Star Joe Bonamassa Announces Highly Anticipated New Studio Album
BLUES-ROCK STAR JOE BONAMASSA ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE "TIME CLOCKS" TAKEN FROM HIS NEW STUDIO ALBUM 'TIME CLOCKS' TO BE RELEASED OCT 29 PRE-ORDER “TIME CLOCKS” https://smarturl.it/JoeB-MLG LISTEN TO THE “TIME CLOCKS” SINGLE HERE: https://smarturl.it/JoeBonamassa WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR “TIME CLOCKS” HERE: https://youtu.be/Z7116ryQV-I Guitar legend Joe Bonamassa today reveals his stunningly sweeping new single, "Time Clocks." This is the third song taken from his forthcoming brand-new studio album of the same name, released on October 29 via Provogue (Europe) and J&R Adventures (North America). Joe continues his soul-searching evolution on this beautifully poignant Bonamassa-Shirley penned song. At just over seven minutes long, it has all the epic musical grandeur of him at his most expressive and ambitious. With a heart on sleeve narrative weaving its way throughout, the rousing chorus rises to the heavens as he sings, "and the rain soaking through my coat, about to capsize my boat I push it along away from the docks, I was never a good puncher of time clocks." Backed with cascading vocals from Juanita Tippins and Prinnie Stevens, as well as the supreme musicianship of Anton Fig (Drums), Steve Mackey (Bass), Lachy Doley (Piano/Organ) and Kevin Shirley (Percussion), it has an aura of pure timelessness. The album was recorded in New York City and took Joe back to his early roots and rediscovers him at a newfound peak with an unparalleled Blues Rock prowess. Known as the man in the suit, loved by many as the ultimate guitar hero, and cited by critics as "the world's biggest blues guitarist" (Guitar World), somehow the music mastermind has found yet another layer of immense new artistry to share with his fans. -
