International Yoga Championship 2019 Report
The national yoga competition that was organised by the SGS international yoga foundation College and research Center(r) Bangalore on 18.08.2019 at Bangalore shikshakarabhavana witnessed the expertise of several yoga experts and to the pride of govt first grade college, two students Lavanya MC and faizal khan secured the second place in the competition. This was the launch pad for them to participate in the international yoga competition at Malaysia.
All the yoga experts who were selected for the international yoga competition were specially trained by H. Niranjanmurthy International Yoga Coach in a three day workshop from 07.10.2019. He trained them every day twice rigorously motivating them to set the goal of winning the competition. The journey began from tumkur Sri siddaganga mutt on 10. 10.2019 And the students reached Malaysia by midnight. The students practiced and performed a stage event on 11.10 19. The international yoga competition organised by ministry of education, Malaysia started at 7 o clock. The event was given a very inspiring talk by the chief guest, Zainal Bin Abas, Director of Sports, Co Curricular and arts division, ministry of education, Malaysaia. He expressed how yoga can be instrumental in maintaining good health. He also said that yoga is the need of the hour and expressed his happiness at the interest the younger generation was showing towards the ancient science of yoga. The event was presided by Vijay Subramanyam who urged students to spread the science of yoga to as many people as possible. Students from our college Lavanya MC and faizal khan from final year BSc secured second place in this event and marked a niche for our college at international level. Sri H.D.kumaraswamy , ex chief minister, Government of Karnataka, Present MLA Channapatna Constance, & President of College Development committee has proved once again his generosity by sponsoring the expenses of 1,60,000/-to the eligible students to participate in the international yoga competition at malasia thereby helping the needy students to realize their otherwise impossible dream. He is known to be a progressive person who has been interested in the holistic development of hardworking students.
The college, Principal, Physical Education Director Teaching & Non Teaching Staff have been instrumental in the success story of our students.
