The Executive Secretary is circulating herewith, for the information of participants in the fourteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice, IOC Technical Series No.84 on Global Open Oceans and Deep Seabed (GOODS) - Biogeographic Classification, submitted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization/Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, pursuant to paragraph 6of decision IX/20. 2. This report was also considered by the CBD Expert Workshop on Scientific and Technical Guidance on the Use of Biogeographic Classification Systems and Identification of Marine Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction in Need of Protection, held in Ottawa, from 29 September to 2 October 2009. 3.
