Dear Community Friends and Supporters,

2018 was an exceptional year for Hosparus Health. We cared for more patients and families than ever before, expanded our services and maintained our prestigious Joint Commission Accreditation. I am humbled and inspired knowing these achievements were made possible by our tireless staff, dedicated volunteers and generous donors.

Innovation continued in 2018 as we created a strategic alliance with a Louisville based health system and nationally known insurer expanding our palliative care program to care for more patients with advanced illness. At the same time, we added NP/MD Specialty visits to our service options along with a very successful Congestive Heart Failure program.

We are proud to say that Hosparus Health was awarded several key distinctions in 2018. • We attained a 4-star level in the We Honor Veterans program and remain committed to serving our veteran patients and families who now account for 20% of our patient population. • Our Joint Commission re-accreditation survey included intense scrutiny of our palliative care program; I am especially proud to announce that we are the first hospice in Kentucky to receive the Joint Commission Accreditation for a Community Based Palliative Care Program.

As the healthcare landscape continues to change, Hosparus Health continues to strengthen its systems, processes, and people. We made the commitment to upgrade our electronic health record system, with full implementation slated for Fall 2019. We welcomed several new faces to the leadership team, ensuring we have the talent to make our strategic dreams a reality. In support of our mission, we maintain a continued focus on alignment of our systems and practices, with emphasis on becoming data-driven and tech-enabled.

Staying connected to local and national organizations in our industry maintains our relevance in an evolving and complex healthcare environment. In 2018, I was elected as Chairman of the National Partnership for Hospice Innovation (NPHI) and consequently, several on our Leadership team are also engaged. This involvement allows us to guide smaller hospices as well as to identify areas for growth and possible partnerships.

Our reach has expanded over the past 40 years, our expertise continues to grow, but our passion remains the same. We remain firmly committed to improving the quality of life for our patients and their families. Together with you, our staff and volunteers, we will continue to deliver on this mission.
