HANDLIST OF NON-ANGLICAN CHURCH RECORDS

In addition to Anglican records, the East Riding of Archive Office holds a wide cross-section of non-parochial registers and records. The following is a list of original records deposited by the different denominations, of microfilms purchased by the Office from the Public Record Office, Kew, and of photocopies of records held in private hands. The list is arranged first by denomination, then by place, originals and copies being scheduled separately.

Further references are to be found in Quarter Sessions records (e.g. registration of Catholic estates and dissenters’ meeting places), and in the East Riding Register of Deeds (e.g. registration of purchase or gift of land for church or school sites and registration of appointment of trustees). Microfilms of the 1851 ecclesiastical census giving (in varying degrees) details of all places of worship in the areas of the former counties of the East Riding and , and the present East Riding (Reference: MF 4).

Detailed lists of these records may be consulted at the Office.
