An Abstract of Development and Consolidation of the University of Toledo Greek Life Governing Councils: 1915-2006 by Alexandra Marie White Submitted to the Graduate Faculty as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Education Degree in Higher Education The University of Toledo May 2015 Since the 18th century fraternities and sororities have been an integral part of extracurricular life on college campuses. Even though there are many different fraternities and sororities, each aims to provide friendship, leadership, and professional development to its members (King, 2004).The rich history of Greek organizations has played an important role in the development of student life at The University of Toledo, where fraternities have been present since October of 1915, when the Cresset society was formed (History of the Cresset Fraternity, n.d.). However, throughout the years the University of Toledo Greek community has adapted and consolidated in order to ensure survival while remaining a vital component on campus.

  • Pi Alpha Xi Lotus Leaflet January 2015
The Lotus Leaflet Pi Alpha Xi, National HorticultureHonor Society January 2015 Edited by Stephanie Burnett, Tau 52 ! The purpose of Pi Alpha Xi, The National Honor Society for Horticulture, is to Recognize high scholarship, Foster good relationships among its members, Promote or to facilitate the exchange of ideas among members of the professions, and Establish cordial relations among students, educators and industry members. Letter from the President Classes started here January 26, so yours truly has been madly trying to clear off the top of her desk before then! On top of the clutter are several Pi Alpha Xi documents: the Operations Manual (eternally open), the Photography Contest materials, and some of the application paperwork for our request to form a PAX chapter here at UWyo. First things first: The Photography contest is our big project each year, benefitting our scholarship program. Paul Thomas (University of Georgia) is heading up the effort this year and he and his committee are making some changes and improvements to the program. We’d like to remind everyone that entries may be submitted by anyone residing anywhere on Spaceship Earth – membership in PAX is not required. So spread the word far and wide and plan on submitting a photo or three of your own! Information for the 2015 version of the contest is included in this newsletter and is also and will shortly be on our web site as well (www.ashs.org/pax/). Second things second: Our materials are largely put together for submitting a request for a new UWyo chapter of PAX.

The college began in 1889 and has risen in prominence to be among the top colleges of agriculture in the U.S. Likewise, the Department of Horticulture has consistently ranked among the top horticulture programs in the country for its depth and strength in a variety of areas. On the occasion of the department’s 125th anniversary, it is appropriate to look back and consider the set of circumstances that led to such a long tradition of success. This departmental retrospective provides some of the facts and figures, as well as the personalities and programs, that have shaped our department’s history.

The QUEST for THETA XI Copyright 2002 BY THETA XI FRATERNITY All Rights Reserved Twenty-Third Edition of The Manual of Theta Xi Edited by James E. Vredenburgh, Jr., Jonathon T. Luning, Jeffrey W. Arnold and Cory M. Criter Theta Xi Fraternity P.O. Box 411134 St. Louis, MO 63141 800-783-6294 Fax: 314-993-8760 E-Mail: [email protected] INTRODUCTION The Quest, as this book is commonly known, provides an introduction to the nature and traditions of the Theta Xi Fraternity. It also serves to acquaint new members with the individual responsibilities of fraternity membership. And it outlines the purposes, programs, history, goals and organizational structure of Theta Xi. It is not necessary, however, for an associate member to memorize everything this manual covers during the brief period of formal associate membership. The Quest is designed to help you get as much as possible from your total Fraternity experience; for just as membership in Theta Xi is for a lifetime, so is this manual, which shall serve as a reference for you as an undergraduate member and as an alumni member who may wish to refresh, renew or enhance his knowledge and understanding of the Fraternity and its principles. The members of Theta Xi have a fuller appreciation of the value of living up to the Fraternity’s ideals because they have lived and practiced its standards, and the further you study this book, the fuller and more vivid the experience becomes. As you read The Quest and interact with the chapter of your affiliation, you will find that you get out of Theta Xi as much, if not more, than what you put into it.
