ANCIENT MONUMENTS AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND REMAINS RULES 1959 CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY 1. Short title, date and commencement: (1) These rules may be called the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules, 1959. (2) They extend to the whole of India, but rules 24, 25, 27, 28, 29 and 30 shall not apply to the State of Jammu and Kashmir. (3) They shall come into force on the 15th day of October, 1959.1 1. Definitions.—In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires.— (a) “construction” means the construction of any structure and includes additions to or alterations of an existing building; (b) “copying”, together with its grammatical variations and cognate expressions, means the preparation of copies by drawing or by photography or by mould or by squeezing and includes the preparation of a cinematographic film 2[and video film] with the aid of a hand-camera which is capable of taking films of not more than eight millimeters and which does not require the use of a stand or involve any special previous arrangement; 1 Vide S.O.

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOUSING & URBAN AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2803 TO BE ANSWERED ON MARCH 13, 2018 DEVELOPMENT OF CITIES No.2803 SHRI LAXMI NARAYAN YADAV: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the proposals for the development of cities forwarded by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh to the Union Government during the last three years; (b) the names of the cities and the nature of work to which the said schemes are related to; and (c) the action taken so far by the Union Government on the said proposals along with the final outcome thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE ((INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING & URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI HARDEEP SINGH PURI) (a) to (c) Urban Development is a State subject. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs facilitates and assists States/Union Territories (UTs), including Madhya Pradesh, in this endeavour through its various Missions- Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Smart Cities Mission (SCM), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yogana(Urban)(PMAY-U) and through Metro Rail Projects to improve urban infrastructure to improve the quality of life in cities and towns covered under these Mission. List of such cities/towns in the State of Madhya Pradesh along with details of funds released are in Annexure. Under the Missions the Central Government approves the State Plans and provides the Central Assistance to the States. The projects are designed, approved and executed by the States/UTs and the Cities. Enormous increase in number of vehicles has resulted in increased emission of air pollutants and, as a result, levels of air pollutants such as respirable suspended particulate matter are found to exceed the prescribed standards in these cities. The Honorable Supreme Court has also identified sixteen cities in addition to Delhi for which action plans are being formulated and implemented to control air pollution. An attempt has been made in this report to address the pollution problem in these seventeen cities namely Agra, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Faridabad, Hyderabad, Jharia, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Pune, Solapur and Varanasi. Trends of air pollutants are determined to find the effects of various actions taken so far to control air pollution. Action plans as developed by respective State Governments have also been covered.
