2012 R+L Carriers Bowl Louisiana vs. East Carolina December 22, 2012 ­— New Orleans, La. Post-Game Notes

l Louisiana wins its second consecutive R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl and finished the year with its second straight 9-4 record, tying the school record for wins in a season. The Cajuns set a record with 18 wins over the last two seasons. l Game captains for Louisiana were seniors Javone Lawson, Blaine Gautier, Le'Marcus Gibson & Brett Baer. l The crowd of 48,828 -- which included a pre sale of over 23,000 by Louisiana -- broke the bowl attendance record of 42,821, which was set last year. l Louisiana scored a touchdown on its first possession of the game for third time this year (at UNT, at FAU). The Ca- juns have also scored field goals three times, giving them six scores on their opening drives this year. l The Ragin' Cajun defense held the Pirates scoreless and without a first down in the first quarter. It marked the sixth time this year that UL did not allow a point in the first quarter with the Cajuns going 4-1 in those games. l Kicker Hunter Stover made a pair tackle on the kickoffs in the game, give him eight tackles this year (all on kickoffs). He is second on the team in special teams tackles. l Louisiana led at the half, 31-21,. UL was 7-1 in the regular season when leading at half. l With their performance today, the Cajun offense broke the school records with 461 points (old record 397 in 2008), 5,914 yards (5,390 IN 2008), 268 first downs (256 in 1995) and 873 plays (856 in 1995) this year l By going four-for-five in extra points, Brett Baer broke the school records for extra-points made 53 and attempted 56 in a season (old record 50-of-52 by Drew Edmiston in 2008). Baer ends his UL career with the career marks for both extra points made 120 and attempted 129. l Sophomore Alonzo Harris posted his sixth career 100-yard rushing game, carrying 21 times for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns (6 & 68 yds). It was his fifth 100-yard game this year and third in a row. l Harris scored two touchdowns in the game, giving him 10 rushing TDs this year and 18 in his career. It was his fourth career multi-TD game (second this season). l Senior Javone Lawson caught 4 passes for 71 yards. He ends his career ranked fifth with 2,098 yards and 15 touch- downs and sixth with 134 catches. l Senior Blaine Gautier entered the game in the second quarter and led the Cajuns on a 98-yard scoring drive that ended with Alonzo Harris scoring on a 68-yard run with 7:05. l Senior cornerback Jemarlous Moten stopped a potential go-ahead drive by ECU in the fourth quarter by making his seventh career interception (4th this year). l The Cajun offensive line, whose five starters have started all 13 games this year, did not allow a quarterback sack. UL entered the game ranked 15th nationally giving up 12 sacks in the first 12 games. l The Teams combined for 77 points, the most in R+L Carrier New Orleans Bowl. The previous record for combined points was 74 by Middle Tennessee (42) and Southern Miss (32) in 2009. l The teams combined to score 45 points (UL 24, ECU 21) in the second quarter, tying an NCAA record for the most points scored in any quarter of a . It tied the record set by Nebraska (31) and Northwestern (14) in the second quarter of the 2000 . It's the third time in NCAA bowl history two teams have scored 20 or more points in the same quarter. l The combined 52 first-half points is the most in R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl history. The previous high was 50 in the 2007 game between Florida Atlantic (30) and Memphis (20). l Louisiana became the second team to win back-to-back editions of the R+L Carrier New Orleans Bowl, joining South- ern Miss, who won in 2004 and 2005. l The Ragin' Cajuns finished with 267 yards to break one of the oldest records in New Orleans Bowl history. Colorado State held the previous record of 246 yards, set in the inaugural game in 2001. l The game's most valuable player, Ragin' Cajun QB , completed 21 of 32 passes for 316 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 15 times for 108 yards. It was his third career 100-yard rushing game and fourth 300-yard oassing effort.
