Eight(Y) Mathematical Questions on Fluids and Structures
EIGHT(Y) MATHEMATICAL QUESTIONS ON FLUIDS AND STRUCTURES DENIS BONHEURE, FILIPPO GAZZOLA, AND GIANMARCO SPERONE Abstract. Turbulence is a long-standing mystery. We survey some of the existing (and sometimes contradictory) results and suggest eight natural ques- tions whose answers would increase the mathematical understanding of this phenomenon; each of these questions, yet, gives rise to ten sub-questions. Dedicated to Vladimir Maz'ya in occasion of his eightieth birthday, with great esteem, deep admiration, and eight winks to his musical moments [208, Sect. 4.8]. Contents 1. Prelude 2 2.
