Developer (s) EA Tiburon, EA CanadaPublisher (s) EA SportsPlatform (s) Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, WiiReleaseJuly 15, 2008's genre (s)SportsMode (s) Single-player multiplayer NCAA Football 09 is a college football video game created by EA Sports. He is the successor to NCAA Football 08 in the NCAA Football Series. The game was announced on February 14, 2008 and released on July 15, 2008 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii and Xbox 360. The wii version of the game is called NCAA Football 09 All-Play and is launched under the new EA Sports All-Play brand exclusively for the platform. The new EA Tiburon features have made several additions and changes to the game from previous editions. A new animation system has been created whereby players are no longer locked in animations. This allows players to chain together different moves, allowing for a more fluid style of play. After a player throws an interception, he is allowed to answer the question The quarterback quiz. The player is given several photos - representing photos taken by the offensive coordinator - and presented three options of defensive schemes to choose from. This new feature is designed exclusively for the controller/player to understand and read the defense. The quarterbacks playing on the road may be alarmed by the home crowd, forcing them to misinterpret the routes or completely forget the plays. This effect is not amplified with the wrong assumption on the quarter quiz. Players can give coaching strategies that result in all offense or defense focusing on one action, such as forcing turnovers or ignoring crowd noise. Players can trigger a timeout in front of a key goal field or an additional point attempt by an ice kicker that will overlay the kick meter with a sheet of ice, change the camera angle to a more dramatic view, cause the player's controller to shake violently, and give a sound effect to the sound kick that matches the pulse of the controller's hum. There are new, school holidays, many of which are associated with the mascot of the school. School custom stadium sounds can be added from MP3s loaded to the hard drive of your gaming system. Numerous user-generated websites have appeared to facilitate this feature. The new Coke zero mascot mode is Mash Up, where the team is entirely composed of the school mascot. In this mode, ball handling maneuvers are more fancy oriented, allowing the player to perform somersaults rather than typical jukeboxes and backs. Mini-games allow you to play H-O-R-S-E with field shots on goal. Online Dynasty mode with up to 12 xbox members on Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. Ball trails and turbo trails for the Wii version. Freshman (PSP) and Play (PS2) simplifies gameplay with one button, while tell the novice player when to actually press the button to perform the action. The game will also offer games to run in specific situations. Cover In order to promote its new version of the Wii NCAA Football, EA held a contest from February 14, 2008 to March 14, 2008, allowing fans to vote for their favorite NCAA Division I FBS mascot college team (with the University of Montana Montes Lone representative of the FCS). The winner of the competition, the Michigan Carolina mascot, is featured on the cover for the Wii. Each of the four other versions of the game has another athlete on the cover. They are all former collegiate players, since the use of an active student athlete is against NCAA rules. Former Arkansas running back Darren McFadden is a cover athlete for the Xbox 360. Former Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan is an athlete on the cover of PS3. Former California wide receiver DeSean Jackson is an athlete on the cover of PS2. Former West Virginia linebacker Owen Schmitt is an athlete on the cover of PSP. The Demo A competition was released on June 19 on Xbox Live Marketplace (Xbox 360) and PlayStation Store (PlayStation 3). The Ohio State teams of the Buckeyes and LSU Tigers both have 2 minutes of the quarter at university level. The mascot game is also available with the Florida Gators against the Texas Longhorns. (quote needed) Retired Online Play on February 5, 2011, EA retired to play online for several old games, including NCAA Football 09 for all platforms. L337 SOCCER MOMS CONCEPTIONS OF “HARDCORE” AND “CASUAL” IN THE DIGITAL GAMES MEDIUM by STEVEN BOYER Under the Direction of Ted Friedman ABSTRACT As digital games have become increasingly significant in the entertainment media landscape, the terms “casual” and “hardcore” have become the primary ways to describe gaming audiences, genres, and gameplay. However, these terms are saturated with outdated stereotypes involving gender, age, and class. Focusing on industrial discourse, this thesis examines this dichotomy, emphasizing areas of discontinuity and overlap to question why these terms have become so ubiquitous in gaming discourse and what functions they fulfill for a variety of groups including the industry, advertisers, and audience members. Ultimately, I suggest that these terms need to be replaced in order to move beyond restrictive stereotypes, proposing a new framework for digital games that takes into consideration user motivation, personal investment, and historical specificity.

The student athletes allege, among other claims, that EA publishes video games which feature the images of student athletes, in violation of their publicity rights.1 In response, EA has claimed its video games are protected under the First Amendment, and that their First Amendment interests trump the publicity rights of the student athletes.2 The use of student-athlete images in EA video games has been examined extensively in the academic world.
