Karat, CPM demand justice for jailed youths on fabricated charges

Lucknow: The general secretary of Communist Party of (Marxist) and Member, State Executive of CPM, Subhashini Ali met Chief Minister (CM) Akhilesh Yadav at his official residence in Lucknow on Tuesday. The communist leaders demanded proper compensation, rehabilitation of youths who were acquitted by the court from terror charges. They also demanded that the youths be given proper jobs as per their qualification. State spokesperson of Samajwadi Party (SP), Rajendra Choudhary too was present on the occasion.

CM Akhilesh Yadav assured the two leaders that his government is serious on these issues and will provide relief to the innocent people and play appropriate role in revoking such cases. Akhilesh also assured the delegation that SP had announced in its poll manifesto those innocent Muslim youths who have been framed in terror cases will not only be released but will also be rehabilitated. Akhilesh stated that his government is committed to fulfill its poll manifesto.

The communist leaders in their memorandum gave names of nine such Muslim youths who have been acquitted by the court. The names include Wasif Haider, Shafat Rasool, Haji Ateeq who had spent eight years each behind the bars and Mumtaz Ahmed who was in jail for nine years. Later they all have been acquitted.

CM Akhilesh Yadav assured them that the government is committed towards the rights of minorities and they will be given guarantee of their honour, rights, language culture, religious practice and their interests.
