Bex joined Gunns when she was 14, back in 2014, and has been a key player ever since, developing a high standard with bat and ball. Bex also plays for Leverstock Green men’s, and Middlesex women’s teams. In the past she has played for MCC Academy, Hemel Hempstead, and Hertfordshire age group and women’s also. Some of Bex’s recent achievements include being the only female player in 2019 to score 200 runs (201) AND take 20 wickets (24) in the season Bex passed both 50 wickets and 500 runs for the club during the 2019 season, and achieved the best League bowling figures with 4/11 v Ansty. Star sign - Cancer Career - Community Cricket Coach at MCC, I go to primary schools everyday and coach cricket as well as work in the academy at Lords. Hero - Beth Morgan Proudest moment - Having the chance to travel to Nepal with work to coach children cricket in schools Favourite Finchley Moment - scoring the winning runs and winning the league in 2018!! Most embarrassing cricket incident - I was asked to move the sight screen which had a camera on, live-streaming the game, so I didn’t want to move it. I tried to tell my team that but they couldn’t hear me and thought I couldn’t push it. Someone else came and realised too but to this day everyone insists we couldn’t physically push it and was fined for it. Favourite Finchley Player - Beth Morgan Most Annoying Finchley Player - Anje Lague Gunns next big ‘one to watch’ - Lucy Porter! Gunns - Dec 2019 indoor competition. Finchley Gunns entered the inaugural MCC Women's indoor club competition in September/October last year, played at the famous Lords indoor school on Friday evenings. The competition was a lot of fun, and a great chance to work on skills, with Gunns finishing a very respectable second place behind Actonians. It was great to see some of our newer club players playing star roles throughout the comp, with both Flo and Natalie (missing from the pic) taking their first competitive wickets for the club! Gunns Gazette !4 No. 4 Gunns Gazette Feb 2020 An evening with Eoin Morgan and the World Cup - 10th Oct 2019. What a fantastic experience for many of our Gunns girls and women to meet the World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan, and get a photograph with the trophy itself! Finchley CC put on a wonderful event on October 10th welcoming Morgan back to his home club and helping to inspire so many of our youngsters with his World Cup stories and an informative Q & A.

T20 World Cup final in Australia highlights India's gender pay gap - Reuters Discover Thomson Reuters Directory of sites Login Contact Support SPONSORED Business Markets World Politics TV More BIG STORY 10 MARCH 6, 2020 / 8:48 PM / 5 MONTHS AGO T20 World Cup final in Australia highlights India's gender pay gap Annie Banerji 6 MIN READ NEW DELHI (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - When defending champions Australia compete in the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup final in Melbourne on Sunday, they will earn the same as their male counterparts would - in stark contrast to their rivals, India. That the match, expected to attract a sell-out crowd of mainly Australian cricket fans, takes place on International Women’s Day has only intensified the debate surrounding the gender pay gap that India’s sportswomen have to contend with. In cricket-mad India, male players are revered as gods, paid handsomely and showered with lucrative endorsement deals, from watches and shoes to snacks, headphones and even toothbrushes. The women barely get a look-in. Sports analysts say they are trapped in a vicious cycle - without the right resources, they face a disadvantage when playing at the top level, which in turn means they are less likely to get investment. “The women’s game is stuck, like Cinderella, at the hearth while the men are off partying,” said Prem Panicker, a senior cricket journalist who has written extensively about the issue. “And that is unfair to the women, to the game and to us spectators.” A-list women cricketers including T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur, opener Smriti Mandhana and spinner Poonam Yadav make about $68,000 each annually despite progressively better performances, including reaching the 50-over World Cup final in 2017.

THE DAZZLER EXTRA – ON THIS WEEK – JUNE 21 June 25 2007 The Dazzler reported the unlikely pairing of Lauren Griffiths and Monty Panesar featuring in the same team, as was the case with Ali Cutler and Graeme Hick! At this time, the Chester Evening Leader newspaper selected a weekly Cricket Hot Shots XI, made up of players who had made an impact in the world of cricket over the previous week. The eclectic mix for the weekend of 9/10 June included Monty Panesar, Chester Boughton Hall’s century making batsman Jim Gillson, Andy Hall and Danny Leech who broke Cheshire’s Minor Counties Championship partnership record, and at number six: LAUREN GRIFFITHS - The Cheshire captain and wicketkeeper took three dismissals against Middlesex, including catching England's Beth Morgan off Dawn Prestidge. And alongside Graeme Hick in the 16/17 June team was: ALI CUTLER – The Chester Boughton all-rounder made 106 runs and took five wickets to spearhead her side to a convincing victory against Appleton. June 20 2010 Cheshire Women powered their way to their first win of the year with a record-breaking victory over Worcestershire, division two’s bottom team. The Cheshire total of 284-4 easily surpassed the previous mark of 231-6 made against East Anglia in 1999, and the winning margin of 173 runs bettered the 170-run win over Sussex 2nd XI in 1998. Dawn Prestidge scored 107 from 104 deliveries with 16 fours, and this was Cheshire’s highest individual innings for 12 years and only six runs shy of the county record set by Sarah Collyer in 1998.

This set up the Eastern Division decider the following week. September 13: Didsbury 59 (30; Leesa Mellon 22, Emma Royle 2-3, Ellie Mason 2-5, Sophie Coates 2-14) (0pts) Stockport Trinity 60-0 (14; Mason 41*, Jenny Dunn 13*) (25pts) • Trinity recorded a decisive victory in this final day winner takes all decider and are the Eastern Division winners for 2020. Didsbury were previously unbeaten, and the previous encounter between the two sides ended with only four runs separating the teams, so this was a very different affair. Emma Royle carried on what she has been doing all season – taking crucial early wickets and conceding very few runs, and Ellie Mason also struck early to have Didsbury under pressure from the very start. Mason then played the senior role in ensuring the run chase was completed swiftly and without alarm. Ashton-on-Mersey 55-9 (30; Beth Caunce 12, Kasey Bentham 2-9, Millie Baldwin 2-9) (2pts) Leigh 56-4 (22.5; Emma Capper 20*, Amelia Sammons 3-11) (25pts) • A feature of Leigh’s campaign this year has been the depth of their bowling attack, and not only did they keep Ashton down to an overall scoring rate of less than two per over, but none of the seven bowlers used conceded runs at more than 2.33 per over.
