AADD ABLE COALITION ADVOCACY UPDATE March 10, 2016

Dear ABLE Act Advocates:

We are pleased that as we approach Day 34 of this 40 day session, the ABLE Act (HB 768) passed out of the Senate Finance Committee with a unanimous vote! It will be read for the second time on the Senate floor on Friday, March 11. That afternoon it will be eligible for consideration by the Senate Rules Committee to be placed on the Senate floor for a vote. Sen. Fran Millar (R-Dunwoody) will be carrying the bill in the Senate. We are getting closer to our goal thanks to your help!

Please reach out to your members and friends and ask them to please take the following action steps this week to help pass ABLE legislation:  Share this update with your databases.  Contact your Senate member: o Urge them to support HB 768 as a key way to allow private savings for people with serious disabilities that will support independence in the community. ABLE Accounts allow people to save for qualified disability expenses without losing eligibility for Medicaid and SSI. o If your Senator is a member of the Senate Rules Committee, please urge him or her to put HB 768 on the Rules calendar for a vote on the Senate floor at the earliest possible date! .
