A very brave lady that could talk about her illness on TV etc. Reading the book was a very emotional journey for me, as I was Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You recovering from my own Cancer treatment. Lynda Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You very open and honest about her cancer journey. She talks about diagnosis, treatment, emotional and psychological effects, family etc. Anyone that has been affected by cancer in any way, will know what a roller coaster journey cancer is. Lynda shows strength and determination - an inspiration to others. Very sad that she didn't survive the journey. Sadly, Lynda Bellingham is no longer with us. Here, Lynda shares with us her journey and battles with colon cancer, which naturally are extremely moving at times, but Lynda being Lynda, there are also many moments of laughter and humour, as well as those moments that she hangs Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You, those moments to treasure. It was a battle well fought but sadly lost. The chapter where she writes her goodbye letters to her husband and sons was particularly hard to read. There is also an additional chapter in th Sadly, Lynda Bellingham is no longer with us. There is also an additional chapter in this particular edition, written after Lynda's passing by her husband Michael which of course was deeply moving but a tribute to a lovely popular lady. For me, this was an emotional read as you knew how the ending would go. I had seen a lot of tributes to her on television this year, and it was sad to hear of her death. Full marks to Lynda Bellingham for writing this book which is really a chronicle of her diagnosis of colon cancer to her death this year. She is a brave woman and does not sugar coat the roller coaster ride of diagnosis, chemo and ultimately facing death. But rather than being a totally grim read, the story is peppered with fun st For me, this was an emotional read as you knew how the ending would go. But rather than being a totally grim read, the story is peppered with fun stories from her life and full of the love she has for her husband and her children. So sad that her time with them was cut short, you could feel her pain at the thought of leaving them. I wish there were more stories about such interesting hard working people and real stories like this rather than all the pseudo celebrities we are force fed every day. Feb 05, Roz rated it it was ok. I so wanted to like this book. Lynda Bellingham had such a good personality and I've always enjoyed seeing her on tv. However, the book is really badly written and I struggled to maintain any interest to the extent that I had to abandon the book. I can only think that publication was rushed due to her health and that full editing was skipped. View all 4 comments. Jan 07, Kim rated it really liked it Shelves: kindle, net-galley. This is Linda's extremely honest account of how she dealt with her condition and her wishes for her final few months. How sad that she never got to see the final Christmas that meant so much to her. It was very well written- I have her two novels to read and am looking forward to those. Nov 23, Sally Flint rated it really liked it Shelves: for-fun- reads. This would only really be of interest if you are either a fan of Lynda B obviously! She wrote it when she knew she only had a few months left to love, so you have to admire her bravery and courage in sharing her story. I'm not joining the cynics who are talking about the cash-she wouldn't have spent her last months writing it if that was all it was for. Her voice really does come out from the pages and it keeps her very much alive. To This would only really be of interest if you are either a fan of Lynda B obviously! To be really truthful, I found it a bit long and some of the showbiz stories a bit tedious, but her exploration of her and cancer was really interesting. Also, it was good to find out more about her family - I'm afeared the husband will be back on the bottle big time now. I think it is a good read for nosey people! It is a bit of a tear jerker, especially the letters at the end. I was reading it in a restaurant and I think the customers thought that I most be midst personal crisis when I was snuffling away! A fitting tribute for a popular actress and an honest exploration of a difficult subject. Sep 17, janet breider rated it it was amazing. So much more than just the oxo lady My sister sadly died in March There are so many remarkable similarities between these two amazing ladies. I finally felt ready So much more than just the oxo lady I finally felt ready to read this on what would have been my sister Johanna's birthday. September 11th. Lynda's words helped me to appreciate once again the incredible thing that is the human Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You. God bless you Lynda, you gave my sister something that as much as we loved her we could never understand what it is to be 'the one' with the terminal cancer. Oct 23, Joanne Lidford rated it it was amazing. A lovely book to read, very open and honest - just how Lynda was, very moving as I read it a few days after her untimely death, the thing that stood out the most was that she had found such happiness with Michael, cancer is such a terrible disease. RIP Lynda xxxx Nov 03, Jo rated it it was amazing. Really heartwarming book. Couldnt put it down. Very good book from a very strong, admireable lady. Dec 19, Rob Twinem rated it liked it. Daily Mail --Daily Mail Courageous The poignant, moving and uplifting memoir from much-loved actress, television presenter and Sunday Times bestselling author, Lynda Bellingham, written following her diagnosis with terminal cancer. About the Author Lynda enjoyed a career spanning forty-five years. She also managed to give us a twirl in and plenty of lip as Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You Loose Woman for six years. Clearly though, this is a whole different story, as here Lynda charts the final 3 years of her life as she battles with bowel cancer. There's an unexpected twist too as she digs a little deeper into her past Being a bowel cancer survivor, I bought this some time ago and had to wait a while before I could bring myself to read it. Her touching and sometimes humorous telling of her personal battle with this disease was truly something I could identify with. The mixture of emotions you feel when living through the treatment is harrowing but the support you receive from friends and family is heartening and is what sees you through it. I was lucky. Mine was diagnosed early and now I am fully recovered, unlike poor Lynda who sadly lost her battle. I had not read any of Lynda's previous books and when purchasing this did not realise that the whole Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You only covered the last few years of her life from her diagnosis Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You cancer. Linda wrote incredibly well, and on the back of reading this book I went on to buy some of her novels which I have yet to read as I enjoyed her style of writing so much. Her story is clearly such a sad one, but Lynda did not portray self pity she gave a full and frank account of dealing with and fighting cancer. Whilst of cause I did shed tears whilst reading her book, there were also lots of moments of joy for Linda and she also made light and fun of situations where maybe others would not have done so. One person found this helpful. This brave lady was definitely trying to help others by writing this book. Her story was told in a straight forward way which explained her situation from the when the illness was first diagnosed right up until just those few weeks prior to her passing from this life. Many questions that possibly a good number of her readers would have liked to ask were answered frankly and openly whilst being able to keep a balance by including humorous anecdotes. The book was tempered by stories prior to becoming ill which gave a flavour of her personality and aspirations and thanks for the life she had shared with those she loved. This book has had a profound affect on me, Lynda is a very womanly woman. She understands people and their needs even when she is terminally ill. The centre of the Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You recognising the needs of others before her own. Women know how to gently influence situations by treading careful paths through Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You problems, influencing, sharing, challenging but always with love, humour and recognising the needs of others. I had thought the book would dwell Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You on her illness but Lynda felt that life had to go on and that being the matriarch of the family she had a duty to deal with her illness in a way that gave the family the strength to also deal with the issue themselves. The book concentrated on her family, what they meant to her, their personalities and her hopes for their futures. So sad that a woman with this strength and love could not share more of her husband and children's future lives. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me I feel privileged and you have influenced me in my own dealings with my family. I have yet to read the book through. Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You Lynda Bellingham was a friend of mine introduced to me by a close friend Theres Something Ive Been Dying to Tell You ago.
