Question. Former Union Finance Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg Has Been Appointed As the Advisor of Chief Minister of Which State for 2 Years Setu Bharatam scheme • Aim: To replace all level crossings on national highways with road over bridges or under bridges under the Setu Bharatam scheme before the end of 2020 • Setu Bharatam Scheme is being implemented by the Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the national highways and reduce road accidents by at least 50 percent by 2020 • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had signed an MoU with the Railways Ministry to replace all level crossings with road over bridges or road under bridges • The government had identified around 208 places for the construction of rail over-bridges and underpasses and earmarked funds worth almost Rs 10,200 crore for the implementation of the scheme NEW APPOINTMENT • Ajay Bhushan Pandey appointed as the new Finance Secretary • Currently Revenue Secretary, replaces Rajiv Kumar • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment. • Atanu Chakraborty: Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs • Tuhin Kant Pandey: Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management • T V Somanathan : Secretary, Department of Expenditure • Debasish Panda: Financial services secretary Cabinet gives nod for FDI policy on Civil Aviation • The Cabinet today approved Foreign Direct Investment, FDI policy on civil aviation. • FDI policy was amended to permit foreign investment in Air India. With the pandemic having spread rapidly to almost all leading countries including the US, the UK, important countries of Europe like Spain, Italy, France, Germany as well as prominent Asian economies like China and India, it is slowly but surely changing the global order. It is anticipated that the post Covid-19 world will no longer be the same as it was before. There are experts who believe that the pandemic may trigger more nationalistic sentiments among economies with countries now expected to be more focused on becoming self-sufficient to avoid or at least minimize the consequences of global supply chain disruption that they have experienced in the wake of the pandemic. While there are other experts who are of the opinion that a crisis of such great intensity could actually help in bringing countries together to develop globally coordinated strategies to combat such exigencies and promote global growth in the future.
