However, the lack of consistent defi nitions, monitoring practices, and consensus about clinical signifi cance leads to signifi cant variation in practice. The purpose of this clinical report is to review the evidence basis for the defi nition, epidemiology, and treatment of apnea of prematurity as well as discharge recommendations for preterm infants diagnosed with recurrent apneic events. BOARD OF PHARMACY SPECIALTIES WHITE PAPER Five‐Year Vision for Pharmacy Specialties Approved by the BPS Board of Directors on January 12, 2013 © Copyright 2013, Board of Pharmacy Specialties Introduction The Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners’ (JCPP) Future Vision of Pharmacy Practice 2015 states, “Pharmacists will be the healthcare professionals responsible for providing patient care that ensures optimal medication therapy outcomes.” i As the scope of pharmacy practice evolves to meet the complex medication‐related needs of patients, board certification is critical to assure stakeholders of the level of knowledge and skills of pharmacists who provide direct patient care. The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) acknowledges the support and collaboration of many national pharmacy organizations in this pursuit and assumes the responsibility for recognition of pharmacy specialization through board certification.ii,iii, iv In assuming this responsibility, BPS also acknowledges the pharmacist’s role in direct patient care as it continues to evolve against a backdrop of many unknowns such as changing health care delivery systems and payment models in which the role of government and the private sector are in a state of flux. Whatever changes come to fruition in the delivery of health care, BPS must move forward in a flexible manner that meets its mission to improve patient care by promoting the recognition and value of specialized training, knowledge, and skills in pharmacy and specialty board certification of pharmacists. v This white paper adds focus and clarity to how BPS will approach the board certification of pharmacist specialists over the next five years. This timeline is critical as the goal will be to create a scalable foundation on which to build future board certification activities for pharmacists. -

The "contracted pelvis" is the absence of pelvic mobility, which leads to fetal-pelvic disproportion, obstructed labor, and operative delivery. Maternal pelvis biomechanics studies by high technological techniques have shown that maternal shifting positions during pregnancy and labor can create more room in the pelvis for safe delivery. The external and internal pelvic diameters are related. The present study aims to evaluate the external obstetric pelvic diameters in shifting positions using a clinical technique suitable for daily practice in every clinical setting: the dynamic external pelvimetry test (DEP test). Seventy pregnant women were recruited, and the obstetric external pelvic diameters were measured, moving the position from kneeling standing to "hands-and-knees" to kneeling squat position. Results showed modification of the pelvic diameters in shifting position: the transverse and longitudinal diameters of Michaelis sacral area, the inter-tuberosities diameter, the bi-trochanters diameter, and the external conjugate widened; the bi-crestal iliac diameter, the bi-spinous iliac diameter, and the base of the Trillat's triangle decreased. -

Retained Neonatal Reflexes | The Chiropractic Office of Dr. Bob Apol 12/24/16, 1:56 PM Temper tantrums Hypersensitive to touch, sound, change in visual field Moro Reflex The Moro Reflex is present at 9-12 weeks after conception and is normally fully developed at birth. It is the baby’s “danger signal”. The baby is ill-equipped to determine whether a signal is threatening or not, and will undergo instantaneous arousal. This may be due to sudden unexpected occurrences such as change in head position, noise, sudden movement or change of light or even pain or temperature change. This activates the stress response system of “fight or flight”. If the Moro Reflex is present after 6 months of age, the following signs may be present: Reaction to foods Poor regulation of blood sugar Fatigues easily, if adrenalin stores have been depleted Anxiety Mood swings, tense muscles and tone, inability to accept criticism Hyperactivity Low self-esteem and insecurity Juvenile Suck Reflex This is active together with the “Rooting Reflex” which allows the baby to feed and suck. If this reflex is not sufficiently integrated, the baby will continue to thrust their tongue forward, pushing on the upper jaw and causing an overbite. This by nature affects the jaw and bite position. This may affect: Chewing Difficulties with solid foods Dribbling Rooting Reflex Light touch around the mouth and cheek causes the baby’s head to turn to the stimulation, the mouth to open and tongue extended in preparation for feeding. It is present from birth usually to 4 months. -
