Once described as the most beautiful Regency House in Scotland. The house was on Historic Scotland’s ‘endangered list’, in the early 90s, when the present owners found it, fell in love with it, and set about restoring this Grade A listed Georgian Mansion to its original splendour. After meticulous refurbishment, Boath House has been transformed into a luxury country house hotel. In September 2010 voted AA Scottish Hotel of the Year 2010/2011. The public rooms at Boath House are finished in deep walnut furnishings and sultry hues. The owners’ passion for art of all kinds has resulted in the beautiful front lounge being decorated with carefully chosen work from around thirty highly talented artists. As the artists all live and work in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, much of their work has been inspired by the dramatic scenery and landscapes surrounding them. The hotel offers eight bedrooms – each of the bedrooms has been painstakingly refurbished and individually decorated to reflect the opulent lifestyle of the original occupants. The rooms all offer a stunning view over either the woodland surrounding Boath House or the lake. Page 2 of 9 Views can also be enjoyed over Boath House gardens, which been lovingly restored to create additional areas for guests to enjoy, with walkways through the woods and wild flower meadow. Bee hives and pet bantam hens can be seen in the walled garden along with an orchard, vegetable pottager, greenhouse and new herbaceous borders. The 2 acre ornamental lake is now stocked with brown and rainbow trout. On a summer evening you can see fish rising to take the nymphs hatching from the many specimen trees surrounding it. A series of well-kept paths connect with the house to enable guests to explore the gardens and rest and relax at secluded seating areas or on sunny terraces. Charles Lockley - Head Chef at Boath House has a coveted Michelin Star and 4AA rosettes, this puts him firmly in the top four restaurants in Scotland and one of the most notable in Britain. The hotel’s kitchen gardens provide much of the organic fruit, herbs and vegetables for the restaurant and the honey comes from their own bee hives. Local suppliers provide high quality seafood (caught and delivered daily by West Coast fisherman), as well as meat and cheeses sourced from a nearby organic dairy. This proposal is based on provision of three large double rooms with lake or woodland views for 6 guests, including breakfast and dinner. Page 3 of 9 Inverlochy Castle Hotel, near Fort William Inverlochy Castle Hotel is widely recognized as being the finest hotel in Scotland. The setting is quite simply superb and is matched by the quality of facilities and service provided by the hotel. We are confident that at Inverlochy you will experience a most relaxing and pleasurable hotel stay. Here every detail for your comfort and enjoyment has been carefully considered. The castle has only 17 rooms, all with private bathrooms, all individually designed and all with fabulous views. Other contemporary features include flat-screen satellite TV and complimentary Wi-Fi. Most of the public rooms offered by Inverlochy Castle are accessed directly from the Great Hall, including the fine Drawing Room, which takes full advantage of the hotel’s views. Page 4 of 9 There are three dining rooms. The Green Room is on the South side of the hotel, while the Red Room enjoys the Western aspect. The more intimate Library is accessed by a secret door from the Great Hall. The hotel restaurant has been awarded with AA3 Red Rosettes and 1 Michelin Star. This hotel sets the benchmark against which all other hotels in Scotland are judged. This proposal is based on provision of three large double rooms for 6 adults, including full Scottish breakfast each morning and a dinner allowance of £67 per guest per night. Shooting You will be shooting grouse on Dunmaglass Estate; one of the premier sporting estates in the Highland region. You will be shooting over high heather moorland, accompanied by a highly experienced keeper, assisted by dogs. On both days, 3 guns will shoot up to a total limit of 30 brace (60 birds) per day. You will shoot walked-up over pointers. Additional birds may be taken, subject to an overage charge of £60/bird. Walked-up grouse shooting can be an arduous and demanding sport. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that he or she is sufficiently fit to undertake the required physical exercise in safety. Page 5 of 9 Guns should be prepared for inclement weather, even during the summer months, and should therefore wear good quality walking boots and have warm waterproof clothing of a subdued colour. Each gun must provide proof of insurance in advance of their first day of shooting. Please note that it is customary for each gun to tip the Estate’s gamekeeper at a rate of about £1/bird. Please note that in accordance with Scots Law, visiting hunters are required to obtain UK Visitor Permits for the use of hired or imported rifles in Scotland. The process requires River & Green to act as your sponsors in support of the application. The process requires about 4-5 weeks to complete and all associated fees are included in this proposal. We will need to receive original copies of your European Licenses at least 5 weeks prior to the date of your arrival in Scotland. Hunting with hawks When hunting with hawks you will be taken onto the hill for the morning by a highly experienced handler. You will be given all necessary instruction and you will be able to handle the birds yourself. The birds used will be either Harris hawks or Perigrine falcons and you will be targeting mostly rabbits. The experience will last for about 3 hours. Page 6 of 9 Golf As one of Scotland's newest courses, Castle Stuart Golf Links is a championship course that overlooks the Moray Firth. As the current home to the Scottish Open it offers a major challenge for professional and amateur golfers alike. The course has been carefully designed to replicate a traditional links golf experience - from its uneven small hillocks to its large sandy bunkers that are as much part of the landscape as the course itself. The stunning art deco style clubhouse is an incredible piece of architecture. Its balcony has been designed around the incredible views and landmarks to the Black Isle and surrounding area. Locker rooms, golf shop, restaurant and bar are all housed in this spectacular building. Nestling on the shores of the Moray Firth, Nairn Golf Club is a traditional Scottish golf links course created from a Highland wilderness of gorse and heather. Today it tests the talents of professional and amateur alike. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in Scotland, and has hosted a large number of important championships. The Nairn Golf Club has now been awarded No 9 in the definitive list of the Top 100 Courses in Scotland 2011. Page 7 of 9 "Nairn is a classic, traditional out-and-back links, and the opening half a dozen holes along the coast rival anything at more illustrious Scottish courses" said Jock Howard, commissioning editor at Golf World. "The putting surfaces are in immaculate condition and the variety of the examination never gets boring. I can't think of anywhere I would rather be on a sleepy summer afternoon." 13 Courses in 13 days: A golfing experience across the Land of Saltire By Javier Pintos On May 22nd I left Buenos Aires on a trip that in the company we believe is the seed for many more golf trips to “The Home of Golf”. Although we have been in the past to Scotland and we have sold the destination for the past 4 years, this trip was a stronger bet as we were leading a 34 golfers party and we added some more days at three new destinations we had not visited yet (Inverness, Aberdeen and East Lothian) and which we believe deserve to be considered when travelling to The Saltire for a golf trip. Scotland offers not only links golf at the highest level but a lot more for devoted golfers: playing courses were golf oldest Major Championship has been played, visiting places with over 200 years of history with our game and walking along towns that breath golf in every corner. Our first three days were in East Lothian playing Gullane no.1, Muirfield (The Honorable Company of Edimburgh Golfers) and North Berwick using it as a Fam Trip trying to discover every secret of this area in order to be able to tell our customers what to expect when visiting this corner of the country. And we believe it holds one of the biggest advantages: you are so close to Edimburgh that you can go after golf to walk the city, have dinner or just discover Murrayfield, the first Rugby Museum in the world. The golfing tour was about to start, it was an intense journey throught 13 classic venues, playing them, taking pictures, glancing at every detail and breathing golf in every step.
