Her national acting credits include a 13 year tour of her one-woman show NINE (!J 0 WOMEN, WAKE UP DARLING with Robert Reed at the Drury Lane Theatre in Chicago, feature C z Cl) :!: films including principal roles in THE LOST CAPONE with Eric Roberts and THE HANDMAID'S +-' TALE with Robert Duvall and Faye Dunaway. In 1991, Ms. Ibsen and co-author J.L. Lowe � C .!2'Cl) :E a: Q) Q) :::::, received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for the musical TUXEDO JUNCTION co E o cc which premiered at Town and Gown Theatre. Following the production of A FLEA IN HER EAR, Q) an NEA grant enabled Karma to travel to the Balkans to co-author and perform THE 0) Q) c � C E MOONFLOWER with critically acclaimed former Yugoslavian actress Snezana Stameska and ctl :::, Cl) poet-dramatists Bogomil Gjuzel. This was her third trip back to the Dramski Theatre in Skopje, <( .... +-' ..J � ctl C/) ..J Macedonia. In 1995, she directed Beth Henley's CRIMES OF THE HEART and in 1992, SIMPLE <( O """ co W O> GIFTS for the Dramski. Her interest in international theatre has also led her to work in Prague, ctl (.) (.) O') the Czech Republic, for the Black Box Theatre Company. Recently directorial credits in Prague ·c3 Cl) ,- ::i Q) -z Cl) include 'NIGHT, MOTHER in 1994 at the Karlin Theatre and THE GIANT in 1992 for the <( c.. � :::::, ,- International Theatre Festival on Theatre Island. GARY WEATHERLY (Lighting Designer) has been the resident scenery and lighting mw Cl) designer at the Birmingham Children's Theatre for the last nineteen years. Gary has designed scenery and lighting for twenty-five premiere plays for BCT (1) < > I- w ... ID Cl) o::::E ,,,n and has designed ten premiere ballets for the State of Alabama Ballet. Recently, he designed J: a.. .... I w Cl) the set for the International Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony that was broadcast on I- cc I C.. Cl) :::, ESPN. Garyhas designed lights and sets for several shows at both Birmingham Summeriest Cl) - I- ·- I �� and UAB Town and Gown Theatre. � LL <( � w 0:E .c a: -: .!2' RACHEL STEELE (UAB Student) (Stage Manager/Maggie Understudy) is a junior theatre 0 <( z major at UAB. She has recently finished portraying a hot-headed hotel maid in Town and Gown's a: cc 0) production of A FLEA IN HER EAR and serving as assistant stage manager for Opera C C sJ: •• z Birmingham's last production of RIGOLETTO. She is currently in the cast of PERSONALS, a - .c I � C musical produced by UAB that will be opening in late February. In March she will once again join < > I- ... cc Q) LL � I-·- cw c.. C: � w 5 ANDREA FRANKLE (UAB Student) (Maggie) is a native of Montgomery, Alabama and a fourth Cl year theatre major at UAB. She was last seen on the Bell stage as "the StorY1eller," in Ray w Bradbury's DANDELION WINE. Of the three roles she has played under the direction of Karma J: Ibsen, a courtesan in Town and Gown's A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE I- FORUM, Macon in ABUNDANCE, and Bianca in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, "Maggie the Cat" is by far her favorite and the most challenging.
