CO-PRESIDENTS: RoyAnne Donnelly EDITOR: Sue Zino Donna Wilson VOLUME 04:2019

Welcome Aboard

We have just celebrated our 2019 Annual Fundraiser which included a Silent Auction and Raffle and, once again, with the help and contributions of many volunteers, solicitors, donors and attendees, it was a great success ...

With the closing of March, we look forward to warmer weather, Spring holidays and the Masters Tournament, among other things. At our April luncheon we will feature auction items that may have been missed or not bid on. Several of us who were not able to attend last year’s fundraiser were able to successfully bid on the carry-over items in April. Thanks again to everyone who so generously gave of their time and effort to make our annual charity event such a success; it truly takes a village to pull these events together, but we mandate FUN at the same time! We look forward to seeing many of you next month. RoyAnne Donnelly Donna Wilson Co-President Co-President [email protected] • (770) 855.5476 [email protected] • (678) 517.7454

www.atlantahumane.org/freepetsforveterans DCW LIAISON to AHS • Marti Wilson • [email protected] • (770) 565.0402 Report by Christina Hill • AHS Director of Marketing and Communications A veteran and his wife recently came into the Atlanta Humane Society. They had a dog who passed a year ago due to old age, and they were seeking a companion because their house was too quiet; and the vet was lonely. The couple fell in love with a heartworm-positive dog named Gemma who recently raised four sweet puppies. Gemma came to us from Butt’s Mutts rescue in Jackson, GA and was here for exactly one week before getting adopted by the veteran. Delta Clipped Wings’ support of the Atlanta Humane Society’s veteran adoption program makes families whole and bring veterans comfort through a pet. Currently 724 animals are in loving homes thanks to this AHS program and the support of our generous friends. <<< AHS is also excited to be expanding this program into Gwinnett County this spring with the opening of our new adoption center in Duluth! We’ll be able to save more animal lives and provide loving companions to the community in Gwinnett. Will keep you posted on opening … the address will be 2148 Duluth Highway, Duluth, GA, 30097

DELTA NAMED BEST AIRLINE IN 2019 FORBES • March 19, 2019 • By Alexandra Talty • Forbes Senior Contributor • Personal Finance

The world’s most trusted airline really just might be.

Delta Air Lines was named best carrier this year by THE POINTS GUY, beating out for the top spot. The Atlanta-based airline earned top marks thanks to its solid on-time record, extensive routes and lounge network. “Delta flew more than 136 million passengers but only involuntarily bumped 32 of them. Just think about that for a second: millions of people flew but fewer than three dozen were forced off of planes,” said Scott Mayerowitz, Executive Editorial Director at The Points Guy, in an email. “Delta was ahead of its competitors in some key investments, and that is reflected in our rankings.” rounded out the top three. The travel website‘s annual Best Airlines Annual Report looked at a number of factors including timeliness, customer satisfaction, pricing and comfort. They used data from the Department of Transportation to see how many flights are delayed, how often flights are cancelled and the number of cities an airline serves. Flying coach? Choose JetBlue JetBlue climbed one spot, snagging the 7th position due to its better flight experience, that offers free WiFi, seat back screens and what THE POINTS GUY says are the most comfortable cabins for domestic airlines. Southwest shines with customer service Despite dropping down to third, Southwest is still tops when it comes to customer service. The low-cost carrier only had 602 complaints last year, despite flying more domestic passengers than any other airline. The airline “is still a much-preferred airline by many flyers, especially families, given its lack of fees for the first two checked bags and generous flight change policies,” said Mayerowitz. The carrier dropped due to their lack of cabin features as well as timeliness, said Mayerowitz. “We put more weight on delays and flight cancellations, which dragged the airline down in our rankings,” he continued. Alaska takes care of its fliers Alaska was named best loyalty program because it offers the best value for its points and has great perks for all levels of membership. The airline had been the two-year running winner, but it dropped to second this year. Forget low cost carriers

Allegiant, Spirit and Frontier were ranked worst. THE POINTS GUY says that although consumers are interested in budget airfare, the difficulties of flying low cost could outweigh the price tag, especially if you’re considering “perks” like meals or luggage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Newest Delta brand campaign highlights shared humanity through the eyes of children | The campaign visualizes… No One Better Connects the World Resource: Delta News Hub/Deltanet • March 20, 2019 • By Kathryn Steele, Corporate Communications

Through the eyes of children from communities around the world, CLOSE THE GAP – Delta’s newest brand campaign launching March 20th – celebrates early milestones we all share and how they connect us. The iconic voice of actress Viola Davis guides viewers as they witness these childhood moments from different perspectives, illustrating how “we’re more alike than we are different” and noting the power of venturing out into the world to better understand it.

“There is more that brings us together than divides us. CLOSE THE GAP reminds us that distance doesn’t have to mean difference, as there are certain common experiences we all navigate,” said Julieta McCurry, Delta’s Managing Director – Marketing. “We hope this video inspires our customers and employees around the globe to seek connection with new and familiar people, places and adventures.”

CLOSE THE GAP is the latest in a series of initiatives that focus on making the world a smaller place, and a continuation of Delta’s ongoing commitment to bringing people together. The brand video campaign will run on social and digital channels this year. Allison Ausband Named to NATIONAL IN-FLIGHT SEXUAL MISCONDUCT TASK FORCE Resource: Delta News Hub • March 22, 2019 • By Delta Corporate Communications staff The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced the members of the National In-Flight Sexual Misconduct Task Force, including Delta’s Allison Ausband, Senior Vice President – In-Flight Service as representative for airlines. “I am honored to represent airline professionals across the industry as we come together to disrupt harassment, assault and sexual violence,” said Allison. “Airlines have introduced training, improved policies and enhanced reporting, but the issue of sexual misconduct remains all too real across aviation. This task force has the opportunity to empower flight crews, making the skies safer, and I’m eager to drive this change forward for all flight attendants.”

When DOT announced the establishment of the NATIONAL IN-FLIGHT SEXUAL MISCONDUCT TASK FORCE (NISMF) in November 2018, it explained that the task force would share best practices in training, reporting and data collection around incidents of sexual misconduct while also reviewing current practices, protocols and requirements of U.S. airlines in responding to and reporting allegations of sexual misconduct by passengers on board aircraft. “Allison is a dedicated leader who always puts her team first and a passionate advocate for justice and human rights, leading Delta’s work to combat human trafficking,” said Bill Lenstch, E.V.P. – Flying Operations. “We are proud to have her represent Delta on the NISMF. Allison will be a real champion for change and provide tangible solutions to improve aviation for years to come.” Allison leads a team of 24,000 flight attendants, supervisory and support personnel around the globe, as well as Delta’s onboard global food and beverage operation. Her key responsibilities include ensuring 200 million Delta customers have an enjoyable flight experience while maintaining a focus on safety, and building upon Delta’s “great place to work” philosophy. Under Allison’s leadership, Delta’s In-Flight Service team has achieved all-time customer satisfaction scores. Allison is also Delta’s executive sponsor for anti-human trafficking, an effort that dates back to 2011, when it became the first airline to sign the END CHILD PROSTITUTION AND TRAFFICKING CODE OF CONDUCT. Delta partnered with the National Human Trafficking Hotline operator, POLARIS, to launch industry-leading training last year. Today, 61,000 April 2019 ~ The BRIEFING SHEET Page 7 of 10

Delta employees have been trained to identify and report human trafficking at home, onboard or wherever their travels take them around the globe. Delta also offers employees volunteer opportunities in 13 cities to support survivors in their recovery. Additionally, the airline offers apprenticeships for survivors at its Atlanta headquarters to provide career development and opportunities to learn professional skills. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chairman’s Club Honorees Jet-Set to Southern France, Pick Up ‘Keys’ to Delta’s Latest A350 Flagship • Delta News Hub On February 25th, filled with breath-taking scenery, authentic cuisine, rare wines and camaraderie, the 2018 Chairman’s Club honorees enjoyed a trip to Toulouse, France, which ended with the delivery of Delta’s latest A350 flagship aircraft to Atlanta.  Part of the flight crew The honorees were thoughtfully selected from more than 7,000 chosen to work the 2018 Chairman’s Club Chairman’s Club nominations and represent 28 Delta stations in flights to and from France: Honoree and four countries with a combined average of 21 years of service.++ L > R: Susan Kraham DCW member Kay Carpenter Monica Jesch Valdez DCW member John Slone - part of the FA crew who worked the John Slone FA class 04/03/1978 flights to / from France - shared the following about the trip. Online Security Starts with Strong Passwords and Usernames

Resource: Delta Community • March 11, 2019 • www.deltacommunitycu.com Security is one of our most important goals at Delta Community, and we maintain a range of different measures that protect members’ online accounts. To safeguard accounts even further, we encourage our members to thoughtfully create unique usernames and passwords that follow recommended guidelines for strength. Usernames and passwords are considered to be “strong” if they are relatively complex; the complexity comes from incorporating a hard-to-guess mix of lower and uppercase letters, numbers and special characters such as punctuation and symbols. The password for your Delta Community account should be different from any other online accounts. It is also extremely important that our members update usernames and passwords every few months.

You can change your username and password online at any time under the ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT tab in Online Banking.
