On 13 July 2007, IEF acquired a 49.9% interest in the real estate assets of Panthers Entertainment Group. Panthers retain 50.1% of the total value alongside IEF and will also continue to operate the clubs on a long term lease. This joint venture will invest in, and develop, Panthers portfolio of 14 sites. The properties are located in a diverse range of locations throughout NSW, serving a total membership base of approximately 140,000 people. Seven clubs are located within the Sydney metropolitan area, with the balance in NSW regional centres. The joint venture provides an innovative solution for the capital and property requirements of Panthers. The arrangement provides long term income for the Fund and a partner with a common objective of increasing investment returns from the assets. IEF is currently working with Panthers to achieve its vision of the Club of the Future, with long-term planning for refurbishment of the Panthers clubs. The plan is to provide a modern atmosphere for club patrons, while at the same time improving operating efficiencies by rationalising existing floorspace and improving design layouts.
