Radiation Oncologist - Program

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is the largest community based academic health network in serving over one million residents in the communities of , Peel Region and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital (CVH), (MH), and Queensway Health Centre (QHC) – offering a full range of acute care hospital services, as well as a variety of community- based specialized programs including the Peel Regional Cancer Centre.

The Division of Radiation Oncology is comprised of a dedicated group of 13 radiation oncologists working primarily at the Credit Valley Hospital site. The Radiation Oncology Division also has affiliated clinics at William Osler Heath Services (Brampton and Etobicoke sites) and Halton Healthcare (Oakville site) and serves a regional population of over two million residents. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in sub-specialty off site clinics.

The Division provides a full spectrum of Oncology consultation and related services and saw ~4300 new patient referrals for radiotherapy in the past year. The Radiation Oncology program of the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre has 6 radiation treatment and 2 CT Simulation suites. The Cancer Centre is equipped with two Varian Clinac iX and four Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators (two with HDMLC) with state-of-the art IMRT, IGRT and VMAT (RapidArc) technology (both Clinac machines will be replaced with TrueBeam unit by the end of calendar 2020) as well as a 2 Philips Big Bore Brilliance CT-simulators. The program employs a fully networked infrastructure for treatment planning on Varian Eclipse stations with Citrix access for seamless treatment planning and delivery. The Varian ARIA oncology information system provides electronic data for Radiation Oncology. Current clinical programs include Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Brainlab) and state-of-the-art HDR Brachytherapy suite (Elekta/Nucletron) for skin, gynecological and GU malignancies.

We will have have a 1.0 FTE clinical position available for a Radiation Oncologist to join our team as of July 1, 2020. Services provided by the Division of Radiation Oncology include providing MRP coverage for patients admitted to Radiation Oncology; providing consultant coverage as required; and participating in shared sub- specialty call and related procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for cancer treatment and care of patients with a variety of cancers, but experience treating GU, Breast, Haematopoetic, Gynecological (including intracavitary HDR brachytherapy) and GI cancers is preferred. Demonstrated leadership/academic interest in GI malignancies is an asset for this position as would an academic interest in population and/or health services research. The ability to join the program on July 1, 2020 is also preferred.

The successful candidate will promote and exemplify excellence in professional practice and conduct; be licensed or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario; and certified in Radiation Oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. THP is affiliated with the UT-Mississauga campus Academy of Medicine, a focus on medical education and educational scholarship is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to team based and inter-professional care are essential.
