2010 BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Wisconsin men’s golf team placed 11th at the 72- hole 2010 Big Ten Men’s Golf Championship with a score of 298-300-314-297--1209 on Sunday. Illinois claimed the Big Ten title with a 21-over-par 281-281-300-295--1157 at the par 71, 7,346-yard Windsong Farm Golf Club.

Freshman Michael Sorenson (Hartland, Wis.) led the Badgers with an 8-over-par 71-74-73-74--292. In his fi rst Big Ten Men’s Golf Championship appearance, Sorenson tied for 12th place overall.

Jordan Elsen (Kenosha, Wis.) fi nished ten strokes be- hind Sorenson, carding a 75-76-74-77-302. The lone senior completed last Big Ten conference tournament with a share of 32nd place.

Freshmen Thomas Welk (Bismarck, N.D.), Sam Frank (Oconomowoc, Wis.) and Anthony Aicher (Wausau, Wis.) also competed in their fi rst Big Ten Men’s Golf Champion- ship. Welk fi nished with a 74-77-83-74--308 for a share of 44th place and Frank fi nished four strokes behind for 50th place overall. Aicher tallied a 78-74-85-81--318 and slotted the 54th position.

eighth best in UW men’s golf history. The Kenosha, Wis. native notched his best career-fi nish at the 2010 Crooked Stick Invitational April 19-20. He carded a 69-71-73--213 to cement the third place position. Elsen tallied his career-best 54-hole score of 208 at the 2009 Wolverine Intercollegiate Sept. 26-27.

10 History of Golf at Wisconsin
