TONIGHT’S GAME: Tonight’s tilt between the Quakes and the Lancaster JetHawks ( affiliate) marks the 39th STANDINGS game of 2019 and the second of the current four-game series, set for a 7:05PM first pitch. Rancho and Lancaster will see one another next weekend for another series at The Hangar, this time a three-game set. Offensively, Nick Yarnall led the charge for Rancho as he filled the Inland Empire 18 20 .474 5 stat sheet. The former Pitt Panther went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a two-run homer, a walk and a triple. On the mound, Quakes’ SP Lake Elsinore 17 21 .447 6 Gerardo Carrillo (2-2) racked up his second win with one of his better performances on the 2019 campaign. Carrillo finished a sea- son-high six innings of work, working around six hits and three earned runs, tallying seven strikeouts. JetHawks’ SP Lucas Gilbreath (2-1) shouldered his first defeat of 2019 as the Rancho offense tagged the lefty for six earned runs across 5.2 innings. Wes Helsabeck CAL LEAGUE SCOREBOARD hurled the final three innings, following Carrillo’s six frames, recording the rare three-inning save for his second of the year. The YESTERDAY southpaw impressed by keeping Lancaster off the scoreboard, allowing just two hits and punching out five batters. With the official promotion of RHP Josiah Gray on Saturday, both Gray (No. 17 Dodgers’ prospect) and Jeter Downs (No. 7 Dodgers’ prospect) reside on the same roster as they try to prove why the Dodgers’ brass traded for them just a few months ago. Modesto at Visalia, 6:00 PM JETHAWKS HOVERING: After a loss on April 14th to Lancaster in what completed a four-game sweep, the Quakes stood at a 5-6 Inland Empire at San Jose, 6:30 PM record. Since that defeat, Rancho has won 17 out of its last 25 games, holding a first-place standing in the Cal League South Division RANCHO CUCAMONGA at Lancaster, 6:35 PM since April 18th. However, the Quakes are 4-4 in their last eight games. And now the JetHawks, winners of five of their last seven, are Lake Elsinore at Stockton, 7:10 PM just two games back of the Quakes’ South Division lead. The recent trends for both Rancho and Lancaster are setting up the current four-game series at The Hangar to be the biggest series of the first half so far. LEO CRAWFORD: The Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua native, LHP Leo Crawford, makes his fifth start of 2019 on Tuesday night. The Modesto at Visalia, 6:00 PM last start for Crawford came in a no-decision in a 1-0 loss agaisnt the Inland Empire 66ers for the Rancho ballclub. He tossed five Inland Empire at San Jose, 6:30 PM innings of scoreless , with one hit, one walk and four strikeouts. As Crawford is set to make his sixth career start against RANCHO CUCAMONGA at Lancaster, 6:35 PM Lancaster, he brings in a 6.11 ERA in 2019 with 12 earned in 17.2 innings of work. The southpaw has been up and down this year, yet, Lake Elsinore at Stockton, 7:10 PM he is amidst his best stretch of pitching, not allowing a run in his last three appearances.
