PRICE SITUATIONER OF SELECTED AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES FOURTH WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 2016

HIGHLIGHTS

 Prices of rice generally retain their last week’s levels (Table 1)  The price of premium rice inched up by P1.00 per kilogram in Butuan City.  A kilogram of well milled rice was priced lower by P1.00 in Tuguegarao City.  The price per kilogram of regular milled rice decreased by P1.00 in Tuguegarao City and by P2.00 in Iloilo City.

 Meat and egg items generally maintain their last week’s price quotations (Table 2)  A P10.00 per kilogram price decline for lean beef was registered in Tuguegarao City.  In Cabanatuan City, a kilogram of beef with bones was priced higher by P10.00 this week.  The price per piece of chicken egg went down by P0.30 in Batangas City. However, its price inched up by P0.50 in Tacloban City.

 Prices of monitored fish species in the regional centers vary during the period (Table 3)

 The price per kilogram of alumahan dropped by P20.00 in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Butuan City. On the contrary, its price per kilogram was higher by P10.00 in Cabanatuan City and Zamboanga City, and by P20.00 in Cagayan de Oro City.  The price per kilogram of bangus was cheaper by P20.00 in Batangas City. On the contrary, its price was higher by P20.00 in Zamboanga City.  The price per kilogram of galunggong was lower by P10.00 in Iloilo City. Its price, however, increased by P10.00 in Zamboanga City.  The price per kilogram of tilapia was higher by P10.00 in Baguio City and Cotabato City. Meanwhile, its price fell by P10.00 in Batangas City and Butuan City, and by P20.00 in Cagayan de Oro City.

 Mixed price movements in vegetables are noted during the week (Table 4)

 Price increments for ampalaya ranging from P5.00 to P20.00 per kilogram were observed in five (5) regional centers.  In Tuguegarao City, the price per kilogram of cabbage dropped by P5.00 this week.  A P10.00 price cut per kilogram of carrots was reported in Cabanatuan City and Naga City. However, it went up by P5.00 in Cotabato City and by P10.00 in Batangas City and Zamboanga City.  The price per kilogram of eggplant was cheaper by P5.00 in Cabanatuan City and Butuan City and by P20.00 in Baguio City. However, its price was higher by P1.00 in Cotabato City.  The price per kilogram of habitchuelas fell by P10.00 in Cabanatuan City and by P5.00 in Butuan City. On the other hand, its price picked up by P10.00 per kilogram in Batangas City and by P20.00 in Cagayan de Oro City.  The price per kilogram of native pechay rose by P10.00 in Iloilo City and by P15.00 in Legaspi City. Meanwhile, its price per kilogram fell by P10.00 in Batangas City.  A kilogram of stringbeans exhibited price increases ranging from P5.00 to P25.00 in four (4) regional centers. On the contrary, four (4) regional centers, namely, Butuan City, Iloilo City, Cagayan de Oro City and NCR, recorded price reductions from P5.00 to P20.00 per kilogram.  Price cuts of P5.00 and P10.00 per kilogram for tomato were posted in Tuguegarao City and NCR, respectively. Its price per kilogram, however, picked up by P10.00 in Cabanatuan City.  White potato were priced higher in six (6) regional centers. Price increases ranged from P5.00 to P20.00 per kilogram.

 Varying price movements in condiments are observed in selected regional centers (Table 5)

 The price of red onion went up by P10.00 per kilogram in Cabanatuan City. On the other hand, it dropped by P10.00 in Butuan City.  Price mark-up of P50.00 per kilogram for native garlic was observed in NCR. It was, however, priced lower by P20.00 per kilogram in Cagayan de Oro City.  The price of imported garlic rose by P10.00 in Tuguegarao City, Cabanatuan City and Batangas City.  Price upticks of P10.00 and P20.00 per kilogram of ginger (hawaiian) were correspondingly reported in Cabanatuan City and Batangas City. On the contrary, it declined by P10.00 in Butuan City.

 Price adjustments in fruits are seen in selected regional centers (Table 6)

 The price per kilogram of banana (lakatan) rose by P5.00 in Iloilo City.  A kilogram of banana (latundan) posted price reduction of P0.50 in Cotabato City.  The price of calamansi was lower by P10.00 per kilogram in Legaspi City and by P15.00 in Cabanatuan City. It was however, more expensive by P5.00 in Butuan City.  Price increments of P5.00 and P30.00 per kilogram for mango (carabao) were observed in Iloilo City, NCR and Cagayan de Oro City. Meanwhile, it fell by P10.00 in Butuan City.  A P5.00 per kilogram mark-up in the price of papaya was noted in Iloilo City and Butuan City, and by P10.00 in NCR.

 Cooking oil exhibit price movement in two regional centers this week (Table 7)

 In Iloilo City, the price per bottle of cooking oil was higher by P10.00 during the week in review. Meanwhile, it decreased by P1.00 in Kidapawan City.
