Jondhale and Sanjiv K.Sadgir Department of Chemistry, GES Arts Commerce and Science College Shreewardhan, Raigad - 402110) (M.S., India), [email protected] Abstract: The samples of algae were collected from pre-defined fix 5 sampling point. The samples were collected monthly from selected sampling stations of river Savitri from August 2016 to June 2017. In present study, the water quality of river Savitri, Algal Species Pollution Index were employed.The total score of each station was greater than 20 indicating the confirmed high organic pollution. Considering all the water parameters and pollution index it was clearly shown that the sampling stations II and III were highly polluted than station I. The results of the present study revealed that the surface water quality was affected from Industrial effluents and domestic water of the river. Formerly Assistant Director in Charge of Department of Entomology, Haffkine Institute, Bombay b Manuscript received in September 1949 The findings of the Plague Recrudescence Inquiry in Sholapur and Adjoining Districts, conducted by Sharif & Narasimham11 12 in the districts of Sholapur and Dharwar during 1940 to 1943, do not support the idea that wild rodents help to carry plague infection from one place to another as in " temperate climes ".4 Wild rodents cannot be considered responsible for plague in Bombay Province, though they have been shown to be so in Transbaikalia, Mongolia, South-Eastern Russia, South Africa, and the western parts of the USA.17 In Bombay Province, the domestic rat perpetuates the plague infection. In some suitable places the infection among domestic rats goes on throughout the year. The infection is not apparent during the hot and dry season, its intensity being diminished because of the ill effect of prevailing climatic conditions on the wanderings of adult rat-fleas ; it pursues the course of a slow subterranean enzootic from burrow to burrow. The conclusion of the off-season is characterized by the advent of the rainy season, which exerts its influence in two ways first, it causes the rats from outside shelters to herd into burrows indoors and remain there perforce, which results in a considerable increase in the rat population within houses; secondly, it brings down the temperature and increases the humidity to such an extent as to result in a striking rise in the flea population and to allow rat-fleas to come out of burrows to attack human beings.

Population characteristics shows relationship between geographical condition and economic development as well as changes in population. This paper aims to provide information about how population characteristics changes with economic development with the Mahad city as a case study. The results of the statistical analyses also point toward the existence of a unidirectional causality from economic development to changes in population characteristics in the Mahad city.     1 Revision – 3 May - 2016 2 Forward I have great pleasure to present this revised version of District Off Site Emergency Plan for Raigad District. The District Off Site Emergency Plan outlining the measures to be taken in the event of chemical emergency or Industrial disaster in the entire district prepared on the basis of past experiences. The plan is prepared with a view to help the District Administration to focus quickly on the essentials and crucial aspects of both preparedness and response. There is no life without change and same is applicable for anything including planning and its related documents. With this in mind the District Off Site Emergency Plan is going under 3rd revision after it was made in March -1998. This revision is focused on the aspects like – Updating the list of the industrial establishments falling under MAH category and this includes few additions. Updating the contact details of the responsible Govt. authorities and MARG members who will either directly or indirectly involved in execution of this plan. When I have gone through this document and found that it was made meticulously and special care is taken to ensure that the information incorporated in it is current. Tremendous water pollution in surrounding of industrial area and Savitri River & creek Thought process developed in early nineties to develop a CETP However, actual development activity started only in 1998-99. The treatability studies were conducted in the year 2000 by M/s. Paramount Ltd., Baroda. The DPR was prepared in Nov. 2000 & technical appraisal done by IIT, Mumbai in 2001. Primary treatment commissioned in 2003. Although the project execution was delayed due to financial difficulties, The project was completed and was fully operational only in June 2005.
