“FASHION SHOW” AT M&CO CELEBRATING TMTG’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Following on from the huge success of the fashion show in April, Thornbury Musical Theatre Group are pleased to announce that, once again, M&Co are teaming up with the group to put on a catwalk show at their major fashion store in St Mary Centre, Thornbury on the evening of Tuesday 25th September.

TMTG, a registered charity, is proud to be celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and, instead of treading the boards of the Armstrong Hall, some members of the group will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk as they act as models for the evening. Apart from celebrating TMTG’s milestone Anniversary, M&Co will be showcasing a selection of their Autumn and Winter stock as it is brought to life on the catwalk. There will be an eclectic mix of styles on show and a selection of clothing for men too. M&Co is a multi-department chain retailer including a petite range for 5’3” and under and a plus range for size 18-28, and a whole lot in between.

For those who love a fashion show and would like a night out to view the new stock in a relaxed format and meet members of TMTG, don’t delay in getting your ticket soon as they will be in high demand, especially as there will be only 50 tickets on sale. Tickets are available from M&Co in Thornbury priced at £5 (to include a drink). As an added bonus, attendees will be given a 10% discount voucher on arrival which is valid for purchases on the evening and up to two weeks after the event. For ticket enquiries call 01454 413125.

The fashion show will commence at 7.30 pm, and doors will be open at 7pm. Hope to see you there!

create a suitable environment for wildlife. SARAH’S FIELD Plans include ponds, pathways, trees, picnic tables. The Town Council have fund-raised from various sources to get by Kathryn McNicholas the monies required. Posters were put up inviting people to come along to the first working Tuesday on March 6th. 20 fruit trees have been planted and will hopefully survive despite the recent dry hot summer conditions. They are mostly Gloucestershire Heritage varieties of apple, plum and pear supplied by Rob Watkins of Lodge Farm Tree nursery, Rockhampton. Pathways have been mown, areas have been scythed (after the safety briefing), a tool store constructed, picnic table positioned for lunch and tea breaks. Further plans include development of the entrance way graded with gravel, wooden gates for vehicles and pedestrians, accessibility, interpretation boards, ponds with platforms, labelling of fruit trees and more.

I started to volunteer at Sarah's field in March and have really enjoy being part of this lovely project. Every Tuesday the workday begins at 10:30 ending around 2:30. The team leader is Fred Miller from Stroud Valleys Project who brings scythes, rakes, forks, teas and coffee and good supplies of drinking water. We have been spoiled with the dry warm weather but some of the newly planted trees have suffered. The pond area was measured out and a digger has dug out the bog area and two ponds. We have a lovely team of regular volunteers (but welcome more), who have been digging trenches around the ponds, lined the bog area with old carpets, to prevent puncture from any stones, and laid the butyl rubber liner.

We also picked the area, collecting any glass and found some pieces of ceramics, clay pipes, coal and marbles; maybe these date from the days when the field was used as a fair ground. The liner is now infilled with soil, to provide a wet boggy environment, for plants and invertebrates that thrive in those conditions.

The next step is to work on the small pond, and then the big pond. We need old carpets to provide the padding under the rubber liners so if you have any old carpets (of any size) do bring them I moved into Berkeley at the beginning of March and was very along or get in touch for us to collect. excited when I saw the poster inviting people to come along and join in with the project called Sarah's Field.
