  • Skipper Akbar Steers Bangladesh to Under-19 World Cup Triumph
“This is a dream come true. This is just the beginning for us” – Man of the Match MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2020 Akbar Ali Skipper Akbar steers Bangladesh to Under-19 World Cup triumph AFP POTCHEFSTROOM (SOUTH AFRICA) BANGLADESH captain Akbar Ali kept his calm to lead his team to a stunning three-wicket win over India in Potchefstroom to win the Under-19 World Cup for the first time. Chasing 178 to win, Bang- ladesh were struggling at 102 for six but Akbar, who finished 43 not out, dragged them towards the line. A brief flurry of rain saw the players leave the field with Bangladesh on 163 for seven. When they returned the tar- get had been adjusted under DLS to 170 from 46 overs. Bangladesh needed seven from 30 balls and Akbar and Rakibul Hasan duly knocked off the runs to claim Bangladesh’s first World Cup at any level. “It’s an unbelievable expe- rience,” said Rakibul who hit the winning run. “We came here with plans and it worked out really well. Whichever team executes their plans better on the day wins, and that happened for us today.” The day started well for Bangladesh when Akbar called correctly at the toss and put India in to bat. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was again the stand-out bats- man for defending champions India as he carved 88 from 121 balls. I firmly believe that establishment of MIST on 19th April 1998 by the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was a milestone in the history of technical education in Bangladesh towards materializing the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build “Sonar Bangla”. • Shakib Leads Bangladesh's Domination Over Australia to Clinch
Sports Tuesday, August 10, 2021 15 Shakib leads Bangladesh’s domination over Australia to clinch T20I series 4-1 in Dhaka ICC DHAKA SHAKIB Al Hasan’s 4/9 and Mohammad Saifuddin’s 3/12 paved the way for a 60-run win in the fifth and final T20I that ensured a 4-1 series win for Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Monday. Bangladesh presented an unwavering spirit to success- fully defend 123 runs against Australia in the final T20I in Dhaka. The hosts bowled them out for 62 in the 14th over with the help of Shakib who snared four wickets alongside Saifud- din, who chipped in with three. The opening stand of 42 runs between Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Naim was able to provide impetus to the Bangladesh innings with a run-rate of over 10 for the first four overs but the middle-or- der couldn’t capitalise on the quick start.
