(0‘10) Titelmusik Die drei Frauen, die ich Ihnen heute vorstellen möchte, müssen sich erst finden, denn lange Zeit sieht es so aus, als ob unser heutiger Komponist sich gar nicht fest binden will. Er ist der begehrteste Junggeselle Wiens, Mitte dreißig, charmant, elegant, gut aussehend, schwarze Locken, dunkler Bart, er ist voller Temperament, dirigiert, spielt Geige, tanzt, zwinkert von der Bühne den Damen zu. Ganz Wien liegt ihm zu Füßen und die Frauen werfen ihm schmachtende Blicke zu – wer kann sich ihn angeln: Johann Strauß. Nikolaus Harnoncourt leitete die Berliner Philharmoniker. 3 Der Walzerkönig Johann Strauß, von Freunden und seinen Frauen Jean genannt, – er ist der Eleganteste im Brüder-Triumvirat neben Josef und Eduard und er ist der Erfolgreichste und damit allseits heiß umworben. Während einer ausgedehnten Konzertreise durch Russland, wo er eine ganze Weile in Pawlowsk, der Sommerresidenz des Zaren für musikalische Unterhaltung sorgt, verdreht er so ziemlich allen Frauenzimmern den Kopf. Von galanten Abenteuern ist die Rede und fast wäre es da schon passiert. Johann Strauß trägt sich mit Heiratsabsichten. Er hat eine Kaufmannstochter kennengelernt und bittet den Zaren um Erlaubnis für diese Ehe, mit der Sonderregelung, dass er nicht russischer Staatsbürger werden muss und sich auch nicht verpflichtet, die Kinder orthodox zu taufen. Das kann nur der Zar erlauben. Aus der Hochzeit wird nichts, sicher liegt es nicht an der mangelnden Unterstützung des Zaren, vielleicht hat die Braut die Flucht ergriffen oder wurde es doch dem Jean zu heiß. Eine andere Geschichte erzählt, eine heiratswütige junge Frau habe Strauß fast zur Ehe gezwungen, da hat er sich in allerletzter Minute mit seinen Diplomatenfreunden einen Rückzieher ausgedacht und eine fingierte Verhaftung vorgetäuscht. Aber in Russland gibt es viele Frauen und vielleicht ist die 20-jährige Olga aus einer Offiziersadel-Familie die richtige. „Ich glaube immer mehr und mehr, dass du das von Gott für mich bestimmte Wesen bist, und der Gedanke, ohne dich zu leben, findet keinen Raum mehr in mir“, schreibt Strauß an Olga und widmet ihr seinen Walzer „Reiseabenteuer“. Darin hört man mit ein wenig Fantasie Vorfreude auf die Reise nach Russland, die Sehnsucht nach Olga, eine liebevolle Umarmung und das Veto der Eltern. Die machen den Heiratsplänen nämlich einen Strich durch die Rechnung. (2’00) 4 Musik 2 Johann Strauß: Reiseabenteuer, Walzer op.227 Slowakische Staatsphilharmonie Kosice / Mika Eichenholz M0010568 006, Marco Polo, 8.223470, 5’28 Der Walzer „Reiseabenteuer“, den Strauß seiner Amour fou Olga in Russland widmet. Ihre Eltern sind gegen eine Hochzeit, Mutter Strauß auch und so heiratet Olga einige Jahre später einen russischen Militärbeamten und bekommt vier Söhne. Eine Freundin von ihr schreibt Jahre später einen ganzen Stapel Liebesbriefe von Johann an Olga ab und übergibt sie der dritten Ehefrau von Strauß, Adele. Ob die sich über das Geschenk gefreut haben mag? Die drei Ehefrauen von Strauß, das ist Thema der heutigen SWR2 Musikstunden, noch hat er aber nicht mal eine geehelicht. Johann Strauß heiratet spät, aber mit einem Paukenschlag. Ganz plötzlich und ohne Öffentlichkeitsrummel, mitten im Hochsommer, alle Wiener weilen noch in der Sommerfrische. Jetzt wartet die Gesellschaft seit Jahren darauf, dass der charmante Jean unter die Haube kommt und dann ist sie gar nicht mit dabei. Und ehrlich gesagt, riecht das Ganze auch ein bisschen nach einem Skandal. Die Braut ist um sieben Jahre älter, böse Zungen sprechen gleich von einem Mutterersatz. Zudem ist sie keine Unbekannte, es ist die Sängerin Henriette Treffz- Chalupetzky, langjährige Lebensgefährtin des Bankiers und Kunstmäzens Moritz Baron Todesco. Mit ihm hat sie zwei Töchter, außerdem noch fünf andere uneheliche Kinder von verschiedenen Männern. Aber wir wollen uns nicht am Klatsch beteiligen, das tut auch nichts zur Sache. Henriette, Jetty genannt, war eine international erfolgreiche 5 Sängerin, Engagements führten sie nach Deutschland, und England, wo sie als „german queen of song“ gefeiert wurde, eine echte Diva also. Im Gegensatz zu all unseren bisherigen Komponistenfrauen dieser Woche, hat sie vor ihrer Ehe bereits Karriere gemacht, kehrt dann der Erfolgswoge bewusst den Rücken, kommt nach Wien zurück und führt dort als unverheiratete Baronin Todesco ein luxuriöses Leben. Zu einem Hausball in gepflegter Runde, engagiert sie die beiden Musiker Johann Strauß und Henri Vieuxtemps und da muss es gefunkt haben. Was viele für unmöglich halten, Jetty verlässt ihren Baron, vielleicht ist sie der Börsen- und Finanz-Schickeria auch längst überdrüssig und entscheidet sich für Strauß. Der Verlassene reagiert nobel. Er übernimmt die Sorgepflicht für die beiden Töchter und stattet Henriette finanziell gut aus. Die restlichen Kinder werden auf die jeweiligen Väter verteilt. Jetty ist frei und fängt ganz neu an. Sie heiratet Johann Strauß am 27. August 1862 im Stephansdom. Für beide die erste Ehe und es wird eine glücklich Beziehung. Henriette nennt sich selbst „das glücklichste Weiberl“ und Johann spricht von „gottgesegneter Verheiratung“. (2’50) Musik 3 Johann Strauß Liebesbotschaft. Galopp, Wiener Philharmoniker, Mariss Jansons M0043993 011, DG, 477556-6, 2’30 Liebesbotschaft heißt dieser Galopp von Johann Strauß. Mariss Jansons leitet die Wiener Philharmoniker. Jetty Strauß ist eine energische und resolute Frau, so wirkt sie auch auf Fotos. Der Strauß-Librettist Ignatz Schnitzer beschreibt sie als „eine ebenmäßige volle Gestalt, ein lebensprühender Kopf mit dunklen 6 Glanzaugen und üppiger Haarfülle. Alles an ihr Verve und Temperament. Dazu die Silberstimme der Gesangskünstlern.“ Strauß hat eine ebenbürtige Partnerin gefunden, die das Musikgeschäft kennt, einen Sinn fürs Künstlerleben hat, und ihren Jean tatkräftig unter- stützten kann. Dass Strauß nun verheiratet ist und in Begleitung seiner Ehefrau reist, hat seinem Marktwert als Musiker und Komponist nicht geschadet. Die Konzerte in Russland sind nach wie vor ausverkauft, der Publikums- ansturm ungebrochen. Sogar der Zar lädt Strauß und seine Frau zu einem Kammerkonzert in seine Residenz ein. Henriette singt Schubert-Lieder und Strauß komponiert eigens für diesen Anlass ein Lied für Jetty, „Dolci pianti“, er begleitet seine Frau am Klavier und für die großen Hallenkonzerte arbeitet er dieses gefühlvolle Schmankerl für Cello und Orchester aus. Später ist daraus auch eine Fassung für Violoncello und Orchester geworden. Ramon Jaffé und die Jenaer Philharmoniker unter der Leitung von Daniel Raiskin. Hinter jedem erfolgreichen Mann steht eine starke Frau. Jetty hält ihrem Jean-Buben, wie sie ihn nennt, den Rücken frei. Selbst der anfangs skeptische Bruder Josef gesteht seiner Frau bald: „Jetty ist unersetzlich. Sie schreibt alle Rechnungen, sie dupliert alle Stimmen des Orchesters, 7 sie sieht in der Küche nach und wacht über das Ganze mit einer Sorgfalt und Liebenswürdigkeit, die bewundernswürdig ist.“ Was viele bezweifelt haben mögen, Jetty entwickelt sich zur vorbildlichen Gemahlin und dazu noch zum „Geheimsekretär, Finanzminister, Regisseur, Impresario und ersten Publikum“, so zählt es Schauspieler Fred Hennings in seiner „Ringstraßen-Symphonie“ auf und betont; „Sie befreite ihren Jean-Buben vom aufreibenden Beruf eines Dirigenten und Stehgeigers und macht aus ihm allmählich einen hauptberuflichen Komponisten“. Strauß hätte nichts Besseres passieren können, Jetty managt seinen Alltag, kopiert Noten, organisiert Reisen, erledigt Korrespondenzen, begleitet ihn auf Tourneen, spornt ihn an, ja erkennt seine Genialität und treibt seine Karriere voran. Prompt erlangt Strauß den Ehrentitel des k.u.k. Hofballmusikdirektors,
