Adventurous Spirit. Ceaseless Ingenuity. Shared Endeavour. It’s in our DNA. This is what has been driving us since our beginnings when both Rab Carrington and the Lowe Brothers started to design high performance equipment and apparel for professional climbers, alpinists, mountaineers and adventurers that last longer and are made more responsibly.

For Autumn/Winter 2021, we have applied our knowledge and experience to further develop some of our most important categories, creating styles that perform even in the harshest conditions nature can throw at us.

We have also made the whole range more sustainable than ever before because improving how we work and striving to do better is what drives us from the inside. We are therefore more than excited to announce that Equip has been certified as ‘Climate Neutral Company’ by independent climate solutions provider South Pole in November 2020. This is just the beginning of our ambitious, but necessary ascent to reach Net Zero by 2030.

2 PROUD TO BE CLIMATE NEUTRAL

THIS YEAR WE BECAME A CLIMATE NEUTRAL COMPANY. IT’S OUR 2020 BASE CAMP. FROM HERE WE START OUR ASCENT TO, NET ZERO: WE AIM TO REACH NET ZERO BY 2030.

We have calculated and verified our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, Our baseline is set and we have plotted an ambitious route, with science-based targets and clear interim milestones consistent with a 1.5ºC mitigation pathway. This will help ensure we stay on course for success, by reducing avoidable emissions (and ultimately eliminating them).

Interim milestones already reached:

• We power our head office and warehouse with 100% renewable electricity. • We’re removing unnecessary packaging. • We’re moving towards a fleet of plug-in electric fleet vehicles. • Increasing the use of recycled materials.

GOING FORWARD We will detail our plans, set internal targets and engage staff, suppliers and business partners.

Annually we will measure, report our emissions and deliver our CSR progress report in May.

3 ‘Climate Neutral’ means reducing emissions and balancing any remaining emissions through carbon credits. Carbon credits support projects that reduce or remove emissions, such as expanding renewable energy or conserving vital forests and carbon sinks.

Achieving ‘Net Zero’ (as defined by the IPCC – Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) means that Equip will not release more non-avoidable Greenhouse Gas Emissions into the atmosphere than it neutralises with actual carbon removal (rather than carbon credits).

4 Our story began in 1981 in the attic of a small, terraced house in Sheffield where Rab Carrington made the first sleeping bag to bear his name. Hand-stitched and devised with his own ingenious eye, Rab’s experience from years spent in the mountains was apparent in his designs, and soon there was popular demand both from friends and the growing local climbing community. It is therefore no surprise, that even 40 years after the foundation of Rab, insulation is an integral part of our heritage and we are proud to call ourselves the Masters of Insulation.

Our knowledge regarding insulation materials and technologies has grown constantly and today we complement our down range with an innovative and technical synthetic collection.

Combining advanced weaving techniques and innovative stretch fabric technology, the Cubit Stretch Down Hoody using recycled hydrophobic down is versatile and exceptionally comfortable. Utilizing Pertex’s 3D Weave Technology which allows baffles to be woven from a single fabric eliminating the need for stitching, this Hoody maximises the performance of the insulation, reduces weight and maintains an even distribution of down and is ideally suited for a variety of outdoor activities.

Building on our long-standing partnership with Pertex®, we are delighted to introduce the Arc Eco as the first product to use 3-layer Pertex® Shield Revolve fabric.

Made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, Pertex® Shield Revolve is made from a polyester face, polyester membrane and polyester backer. This monopolymer, or single type of material, not only has a reduced impact during production but it also paves the way to be recycled again at the end of its life.

The fabric is super soft to the touch, quiet when in use, lightweight and very comfortable to wear. It has a 20m HH and a 15,000 MVTR with a fluorocarbon-free DWR treatment, further enhancing its sustainability appeal.

16 ARC ECO JACKET & WOMEN’S ARC ECO JACKET The Arc Eco Jacket is our first garment to utilise new 3-layer Pertex® Shield Revolve fabric. The mono-polymer fabric is not only fully recycled but gives the opportunity to be recycled itself at the end if it life. Featuring a fluorocarbon-free DWR this fabric is soft, yet durable and comfortable to wear during everyday outdoor activities.
