THE UNIVERSAL PICTURES FEATURE Despicable Me stars Gru, a fictional crime lord with a distinct resemblance to real criminal Grimly Feendish. In 1965 Feendish escaped jail for his part in the Great Train Robbery, employing explosive treacle with criminal intent and unleashing monsters to gain world domination. In 1985 he teamed with punk band The Damned, reaching #21 in the UK charts with a self titled single. With declining health in 2001 he voluntarily returned from Brazil to UK prison hospitals, receiving full time care. In 2009 Feendish was granted compassionate release. Will drama justify a six month delay? THE BBC ANNOUNCED ON 29 AUGUST 2010 that the 2011 series of Doctor Who Chameleon Factor # 80 would be split into two blocks, airing “spring and autumn”. The given reason is to create a second series cliffhanger. Steven Moffat said: "The split series O u t is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two N No ow finales and more event episodes. For the kids it will never be more than a ! few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter, Autumn, Christmas!!"

Northern spring runs from March to May, and is consistent with the series premieres of March or April over the last five years. Northern autumn runs September to November. With the BBC’s additional turnaround of a fortnight (revealed in The Wall of Lies 123) added to the delay, it seems the second half of the next series will not screen on ABC until this time next year.

“We're yet to confirm with the ABC how we'll be delivering the series,” said a BBC spokesperson. “We'll be working to ensure they take delivery as soon SFSA magazine # 26 as possible after UK transmission though.” Continued Page 2 Deadly Earnest goes Season 26 -- An Overview, page 4. ten pin bowling, page 2. They have repeat rights for series four and five, the associated Confidentials, the 2009/10 specials, : Children of Earth, and are running out the rights to the first two series of Torchwood with the current repeats.

Yet, is this the best sea- son of Who that we have seen? Difficult to say. Comparing a story like the brilliant Daleks with the equally entertaining Curse of Fenric, is rather tricky due to the generation gap and dif- ferent emphases.

I do not know about anyone else, but since the end of The Trial of a Time Lord, I feel that the program has lost a certain ‘something’ -- an intangible charm, if you like. Perhaps I am living in the past -- I must admit missing such special effects as the Skarasen from Terror of the Zygons, or the space walking Cybermen from The Wheel in Space.

Overall, this season is as good as, if not better than last year’s. 1. The Curse of Fenric 2. Ghostlight 3. Survival 4. Battlefield

With the future of Doctor Who looking a little veiled, this may be the last preview of this kind written for some time. All we can do, as the BBC have stated, is sit back and wait...

[And it was a long wait. Following season 26, there was only 1996’s telemovie (AKA Doctor Who: The Movie. or The Enemy Within) until production resumed in 2005.]
