I am very happy that you want to be present to discuss and develop your ideas at the European Youth Event – EYE. Today we are in urgent need of new ideas for Europe. The European Union faces big- ger challenges than ever: the refugee crisis, increasing nationalism, the economic and monetary union that still needs to be finished, a possible exit of the UK from the EU EUROPEANand thePARLIAMENT danger from terrorism are only some of the most pressing problems. STRASBOURG 20-21 MAYIt would 2016 be dangerous to think that there are no alternatives to the EU. There is one. It is a Europe of nationalisms, of borders and walls, a Europe of antagonism and egoism. A Europe of less prosperity, less security, less freedom and less cooperation. And now we have come dangerously close to this alternative, as for the first time in history the failure of this grand idea and incomparable success story is unfortunately a realistic scenario. Everyone who puts our common project in jeopardy puts in jeopardy the future of co- ming generations. It is thanks especially to young, active people like you that I believe in the future of Europe. With your contribution to a vibrant European democracy, you will make the difference in the future. This leaves me optimistic regarding the huge tasks ahead of us. So thank you very much for your interest in European politics and the European Parlia- ment – an exciting, multilingual, unique political institution. And the European Youth Event will be equally international and multilingual. My wish for you all is to have fun, hold interesting discussions, come up with many good ideas and enjoy your experience here in Strasbourg. Mr Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament EYE2016 guide 5 TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE 2016 A CHANGE THE EUROPEAN 2016 YOUTH EVENT THE EUROPEAN YOUTH EVENT ProgrammeProgramme VERSION: 9 MARCH 2016 TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE Dear participants, Thank you for accepting the European Parliament’s invitation to participate in the second edition of the European Youth Event (EYE). The EYE 2016 brings together young people from the 28 EU Member States and beyond in the European Parliament. It will be a unique opportunity for you to engage in workshops, debates and many other activities with your peers and with decision-makers. We want to listen to YOU! Your ideas will serve as a source of inspiration for Members of the European EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT Parliament and will be discussed in several parliamentary committees in the autumn. STRASBOURG 20-21 MAY 2016 The EYE 2016 aims to: - give you the opportunity to present and discuss ideas on how to make a change in Europe with fellow participants and with European decision-makers; - encourage discussion and debate on hot topics and future European policies; - give you an opportunity to stage cultural performances and showcase cultural diversity in Europe. On behalf of the European Parliament, we would like to thank our EYE partners and all the youth groups contributing to the event. You are all invited to get involved in the many indoor and outdoor activities on offer during the EYE 2016. We are looking forward to meeting you in Strasbourg. La Delio Valdez is an orchestra born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2009. It is a group of musicians who has developed an original proposal rooted in cumbia, a genre that has spread throughout Latin America like a common musical language. La Delio Valdez (from now on: LDV) takes up the continent’s rich orchestral tra- dition. It mirrors certain aspects of Argentina’s national tango orchestras, namely their cooperative organization, their excellence and their theatricality on stage. It also emulates the great Caribbean orchestras of the past in that it counts dance and potent and overwhelming sound among the essential features of its style. LDV reappropria- tes those languages in its own way and renders them in a more modern format, where the electric and the acoustic blend. LDV’s music has a varied quality which fusions features from other genres: the Andean tradition, salsa, rock, jazz and reggae, to yield a style that is both traditional and modern. An international and contemporary sound which reflects the region’s mestizo identities. LDV’s repertoire includes both original works by the orchestra and arrangements of pieces belonging to the Latin American songbook. To these ends, the orchestra counts on a rhythm section made up of six musicians: Pedro Rodriguez in vocals, timpani with bass drums, and tambora; Sebastían Ague- ro in conga drums; Tomás Arístide in guiro and/or maracas; Marcos “Pollo” Díaz in bongoes and conical drums (“tambor alegre” in Spanish); Manuel Cibrian in vo- cals and guitar, and León Podolsky in electric bass. Plus, a section made up of seven winds: Agustina Massara, Pablo Broide in alto and tenor saxophones; Santiago Mol- dovan in the clarinet; Milton Rodriguez and Damian Chavarria in trombones; Pa- blo Vazquez Reyna and Agustin Zuanigh in trumpets.

Palabras clave: Historia de la enseñanza de lenguas: Instrumentos didácticos; Multilingüismo (español, francés, italiano); Flandes; Collegi- um Trilingue de Lovaina; siglo XVI Abstract: In 16th-century Flanders, various languages were spoken and practiced, especially in the university town of Louvain and the city of Antwerp, the economic heart of the Southern Low Countries.
