    Western & Southern Open Defending Champions Headline Doubles Fields CINCINNATI (Aug. 11, 2020) – Both the women’s and men’s defending champions are among the initial entries to play doubles at the 2020 Western & Southern Open, which will be held Aug. 20-28 at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York. The 2019 WTA doubles winners – Lucie Hradecka and Andreja Klepac – are joined by the ATP Tour champions – Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek – to headline the early entries. Other notable entries on the women’s side include the teenage pairing of Cincinnati’s 18-year-old Caty McNally and 16-year-old Coco Gauff. Dubbed “McCoco,” the duo won a pair of WTA titles in 2019 – at Washington, D.C. and Luxembourg – and reached the US Open Round of 16. Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka, who finished 2019 atop the WTA Porsche Race to Shenzen as the season’s No. 1 team, are also in the field. Reigning Australian Open singles champion Sofia Kenin, a 21-year- old American, has entered with former Western & Southern Open singles and doubles winner Victoria Azarenka. The top two teams in the ATP Tour doubles race are entered in the men’s draw. The No. 1 team of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah is returning after reaching two straight Western & Southern Open finals. The conference had a tennis-specific set up as well as innovative tennis medicine content with keynote presentations, break out sessions, and on-court sessions. Thanks to Connor Sport Court, there were 2 court surfaces that were laid down inside the Life University gymnasium for very real on court demonstrations. Some of the participants (and even speakers) found some time to even play out some points and warm up with the foam balls and rackets provided! This conference was also supported by Ortho Atlanta, a local orthopae- dic group that serves as the official medical providers for the Atlanta ATP Championships as well as the Australian Open Wildcard tournament. The International Tennis Performance Association (ITPA), was an- other key contributor, and they also helped to arrange an on court stroke technique evaluation for coaches in conjunction with Georgia Professional Tennis Association (GPTA), and STMS one day prior to the main STMS-USTA conference. Dr. Ben Kibler, Dr. Mark Kovacs, and myself provided an enthusiastic audience of many local tennis professionals, coaches, and some medical providers some specific modifications of strokes for junior elite players as well as adult players.

    24th March, 2017 Four more stars sign up as Tie Break Tens Madrid partners with The Mutua Charity against domestic violence On the day that Tie Break Tens Madrid announced a partnership with the Mutua Charity against domestic violence, a reigning Olympic champion, a French Open runner-up, an Australian Open semi finalist and one of the most exciting young players in tennis joined the line-up of stars at the event. The event, which takes place on Thursday May 4th, will donate $100,000 to victims of domestic violence. Tie Break Tens Madrid will therefore be named Mutua Charity Tie Break Tens Madrid, against domestic violence. Monica Puig, who won Puerto Rico's first ever Olympic gold medal last year in Rio, joins the field in the 8- player women's tournament alongside Maria Sharapova, Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep. In the men's event, the 2013 Roland Garros finalist David Ferrer, the 2011 Australian Open semi finalist Fernando Verdasco and Lucas Pouille - the 23-year-old Frenchman who beat Rafael Nadal at the US Open last year - signed up. They will take on Kei Nishikori, Grigor Dimitrov and Feliciano Lopez in Madrid. $200,000 will be on offer to the winner of each event, which will be played over a knockout format with every match a first-to-ten point tie-break. Ferrer, a former World No.3, said: 'I couldn't pass up the opportunity to play in this event. To play in Spain is an opportunity that doesn't come around that often and I think that this exciting competition format with tie-breaks of 10 points will be great fun for the crowd, so I ask everybody to come and watch in support of an important cause".
