Position Description

PLANT OPERATOR - HOOKLIFT (GWMC) (AS262) Reports to: AS069 Supervisor Solid Waste Directorate: Commercial Development Division: Commercial Grade: 6 Relationships: Managers; other Council staff; commercial, industrial and development professionals and contractors; and members of the public.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for effectively working as part of the Solid Waste Team to provide high quality services at the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre (GWMC). Work Health and Safety City Council has a duty of care under Work Health and Safety Legislation to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers. This includes requirements to eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety. To minimise risk and assist in protecting workers in employment at Council, workers are required to meet the inherent requirements of the position. Key Responsibilities

 Operate and maintain Council plant and equipment with an emphasis on hooklift truck, loader, water truck, forklift and landfill compactor operation.  Manage the movement of waste and recycling skip bins at the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre (GWMC).  Coordinate the exchange of transfer skip bins at other Council sites and remote stations including , Galore, Carrawarna, , , , .  Undertake other waste management duties as required including disposal of domestic, commercial and building waste and contaminated waste; road and rubbish cell maintenance; implementing and monitoring soil, sediment and pollution control measures; site rehabilitation works; and site safety.  Utilise and maintain small items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power) and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/C) in accordance with Council standards.  Complete documentation relevant to the role e.g. standard forms, run sheets, payroll system,

toolbox talk, site safety documentation including incident reports etc. Position Criteria Qualifications, Certificates and Licences

1. Current Class HR Driver’s Licence. 2. National Certificates of Competency High Risk - Forklift (LF) 3. Current WH&S Construction Induction Certificate (White). 4. Certificate of Competency – Loader (Desirable). Experience, Skills & Knowledge

5. Substantial experience relevant to the role with an emphasis on hooklift truck operation. 6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently. 7. Demonstrated time management, planning and basic computer skills. 8. Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. 9. Demonstrated ability to deliver quality customer service, contribute to service improvements and adapt to change. 10.
