PUBLIC HOLIDAYS ACT (R.S.A. c. P130)

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS REGULATIONS

Note: These Regulations are enabled under section 1 of the Public Holidays Act, R.S.A. c. P130.

Days to be kept as public holidays 1. (1) The following days in each year shall be public holidays in Anguilla—

(a) the first day in January,

but if the above day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the next following shall be a public ;

(b) James Ronald Webster Day (the second day of March),

but, if the above day falls on a Saturday or Sunday the next following Monday shall be a public holiday; (R.A. 5/2010, s. 1)

(c) ,

Easter Sunday,

Easter Monday,

Labour Day (the first day of May),

but, if Labour Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday the next following Monday shall be a public holiday;

(d) Whit Monday,

Anguilla Day (the thirtieth day of May);

but—

(i) if Whit Monday in any year falls on the thirtieth day of May, Anguilla Day in that year shall be celebrated as a public holiday on the thirty-first day of May, and

(ii) if Anguilla Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the next following Monday shall be a public holiday, and if that is Whit Monday, Anguilla Day shall be celebrated as a public holiday on the Tuesday following;

(e) the day appointed for the celebration of the Official birthday of the Sovereign;

(f) the first Monday in August,

the first Thursday after the first Monday in August,

Constitution Day (the first Friday after the first Monday in August),

Separation Day (the nineteenth day of December),

but if such day falls on a Saturday or Sunday the previous Friday shall be a public holiday;

(g) Christmas Day,

Boxing Day (the day after Christmas Day),

but—

(i) if Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, the next following Monday shall be a public holiday,

(ii) if Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, the next following Monday and Tuesday shall be public holidays, and

(iii) if Boxing Day falls on a Saturday, the next following Monday shall be a public holiday.

(2) Other Sundays are observed as Common Law holidays.

Citation 2. These Regulations may be cited as the Public Holidays Regulations, Revised Regulations of Anguilla P130-1. ______
