Classical dressage as we know it today stems from both the military training programs of northern Europe and the cattle working and bullfighting from Portugal and Spain. These training programs evolved over time into standardized tests for competition with the ultimate goal of the "Kurr" a choreographed dance on horseback to music. Horse Trials Horse Trials which is often referred to as Three Day Eventing or simply "Eventing" is a combination of three English ridng disciplines including dressage, stadium (show) jumping and cross country jumping. It is a true test of the competence of the rider and the willingness, versatility and training of the horse. Working Equitation Working equitation is being included as an introductory section of our series. It is a new and exciting sport emerging from Portugal and Spain with its foundation in classical dressage and cow working. The dressage tests are very similar to the dressage tests we are familiar with. Ease of handling is a series of obstacles combining trail, barrels, poles, jumping and other fun stuff to work through and is not timed. The speed trial includes a lesser number of the same obstacles as a timed event with timing faults for knock downs etc. Working equitation is just beginning in Canada with the Working Equitation Canada (WECan) Association established in the summer of 2018. To see the rules and view the tests please visit www.workingequitationcanada.com As the obstacle course is on a grass ring outside the speed trial may be canceled due to slippery ground conditions if it rains. Entry fees will be refunded if the class Is cancelled. Western Dressage The prime objective is the correct development of the horse so that the horse becomes an athlete who is a pleasure to ride, and who works in harmony with the rider. The result of this training is a horse that is calm, supple, loose, balanced, and flexible. The horse is also confident and willing to perform the correct basics with little effort. Prix Caprilli We are offering three Prix Caprilli tests for horses with jumping experience to be ridden in a snaffle bridle. #1 = walk trot, #2 = training, #3 = first level. The tests can be accessed on our website www.kaspianequestrian.com Hunter Derby Included as an activity class to have some fun, get some fresh air and challenge our horses to be thinking on their feet and about their feet. The course of 8 jumps is located in a pasture up a small creek valley adjacent to the Kaspian facilities. The jumps are standard hunter type jumps and will be set for three levels. Cross rails, 2 feet and 2.5 feet. General Information Alberta Equestrian Federation (AEF) Wild Rose-sanctioned competitions are to be run in accordance with the AEF Wild Rose Rules.
